Even though I am unemployed and my family is hurting, I went to a local chain grocery and collected their donated bakery goods that would go out of date soon and delivered them to a local food pantry. It felt great to be able to give, especially when I have need myself. I like giving a lot better than receiving, and it boosted my self-esteem to be able to anonymously help someone without expecting any tangible return.
