The Anti-Hunter crowd is ignorant to facts. FACTS pertaining to hunting such as:
License fees provide the money for conservation. Hunters spend more money for conservation than PETA.
Hunters provide a count of the herds.
Hunters also provide information on teh health of the herds.
Hunters provide a service in keeping the deer and moose herds in check. If you object to hunting, you've never seen a starving deer or moose. Or you've never hit one with your car.
Hunters provide a food source for their families. Here in Maine, we have a Hunters for the Hungry program. Hunters donate the meat to feed families.
I wonder what contributions these Anti-Hunters have ever given to the conservation of wildlife? All they do is kill trees for their glossy protest signs and burn up fossil fuels driving around to their "sit-ins" How many families do THEY feed? What amount of money have they ever given to their state's conservation efforts?
Bottom line is the anti-hunter crowd just doesn't WANT to know the truth nor do they care about the TRUTH

For the major part of today's society, the people have become detached from the food processing.
Today they go to the store and buy a steak, but they would not have a clue as to how to butcher it themselves. Some people may not even know what animal it came from...
This detachment has caused a misunderstanding as to the gathering of food.
In Pennsylvania the deer population is growing and really becoming a problem. Why, because the hunting areas have been decreasing and the deer can not be thinned out.
There are a lot of protesters who carry their save Bambi signs and try to block hunters from entering the woods.
Yet these are the same people who want something done about the deer because they just hit one with their Mercedes Benz.
(Save the deer until it becomes a hood ornament then they yell do something about these deer)
The problem also extends to the deer themselves as with the amount of food available. An over populated area cannot sustain the herd through the winter, consequently some of them die from starvation due to this.
As much as the people think this is not right they must believe that it is NATURAL for humans to hunt food. They must also understand that hunters and hunting in general are a significant part of the entire ecology and always have been.

Most of us are not used to be out in the nature. They see wild animals at the Zoo.
I was brought up with a hunting father and other family members so for me that´s not a problem. But many people - girls- can´t understand it. They can´t understand (and some can´t accept) that my mother just started to hunt.

Hunting serves a purpose, it's true. But, alot of hunters are not really participating in a balanced exchange. An animal offers it's life to the hunter and most often nothing is returned. Not even a simple thank you. The entire animal is not used and the display of the trophy is downright disrespectful. Hunters couch their defense in the necessity to eat. You can still eat and practice basic dignity, respect and compassion.

Most people do not take the time to think where their food comes from. That hamburger must have been born in a cellophane package and already ground. For most of us hunters however, the ones of us that hunt for food and not for a "trophy" realize that we don't know what was put into that meat, whar conditions it was processed. I would much rather feed my family something that I know when and where it came from and how it was processed.

most of them have never been out in the woods much less hunted.
i didn't know how great it was until i experienced it.
if you don't go around shooting everything you see and are selective and eat what you kill hunting is a lot of fun.

I believe it depends on where (and probably when) you were raised. I was raised in the country years ago, and hunting was a necessity.

Some people just do not like to see animals getting hurt, or to see their heads put on a wall.
