I've had only platonic relationships for so long I don't remember anymore why people have sex before marriage. And this is why I'm still celibate: The Bible talks about marriage as leaving father and mother, cleaving to one's spouse, and becoming one flesh(1). In that order. Just in case we didn't get the point, sprinkled through the Old Testament are verses covering all the possible partners in the sex act.(2)

Only in the case of the spouse is it definitely OK. In the case where she isn't married (back in Old Testament times, polygamy was allowed, now it isn't so now it would be if both parties aren't married), back then the man was required to marry the woman and could never divorce her. Obviously nowadays that's impossible because what if the guy is already married?

The New Testament goes at the matter from a different angle and basically tells us that we need to live according to God's ideal, as stated in Genesis. The matter at hand is divorce - so, the idea that marriage is for life - but the reasoning used shows that, for example, it should be one man plus one woman, because that's how God intended things in the beginning.(3)

I am aware that all religions state that sex b4 marriage is sinful bt u ppl are a bit ignorant cause in the same context sex was not ordained for pleasure but for the mere purpose of reproduction. I am a strong believer in God but not religion. How do u know that religious texts are actually based on the word of God. We all believe that Adam and Eve started mankind by eating a fruit from the garden of Eden. How was the rest of us created- through sex ofcourse but was there the concept of marriage- i dnt think so. Its just a precedent of society. Thats y we believe in it. We are scared to be judged. The choice is totally up to u and on the topic of commitment after(before marriage) - if u love some1 wud u like to share that person with others, if u dnt like the idea then treat ur partner with the same respect and be faithful.

Maybe its just me, but I'm traditional..
i know that people are doing it, but you don't have to taste sugar to know its sweet?!?!
I believe the creator made us in a way that everything is supposed to be fruitful. In everything we do in word, thoughts and deed.
GOOD FRUITS!! Sex before marriage is just not as fruitful... a commitment must be there! how would a guy or girl that already had sex feel after being dumped!?!
A marriage BOND=binds the man to the woman. In some religions (as far as i know Christianity and Islam) binds the man and the woman to the spouse that both well take care of each other... in sickness, in heath...etc...TILL DEATH DO THEM PART! Till death is the point. This is usually done in public to announce their commitment to each other.... again...its just me... Another thing is a man would not feel like going after a....well...after a second hand product...(if u know wat i mean) A wedding night and the whole life of the couple should be special and reserved for themselves. This also goes to the men of corse.. the men also should keep it in their pants till marriage!
"2353 Fornication is carnal union between an unmarried man and an unmarried woman. It is gravely contrary to the dignity of persons and of human sexuality which is naturally ordered to the good of spouses and the generation and education of children. Moreover, it is a grave scandal when there is corruption of the young."

Well, as my Grandpa used to say, "You don't buy a pair of shoes without trying them on first." As to sex with others after marriage: The idea *in principle* is that you've committed to that one person for the rest of your life. That doesn't always work in practice, though.

People have sex b4 marriage bcuz they don't have self control, and they don't have the fear of God in them. This is a screw-what-God-said-I'm- do-whatever-feels-good-t -me world. God created sex as a gift for the married. Not for girlfriends and boyfriends. Sex is the exchange of spirits between two people. How many spirits do you wanna be carrying in you? Gross!

When people marry, they vow to have a monogamous relationship with each other. So if one was to be with another person, then the vow of fidelity is broken.
