You are locked in a room with only one exit door. Next to the door are two buttons - a black one and a white one. One of them opens the door and the other does nothing. Obviously, you do now know which one does what and you only have one chance to select and push a button.

To help you, there are 2 IDENTICAL voice-activated computers in the room - one computer 100% always tells the truth, and the other one 100% always tells a lie. You have no idea which one is which.

You are only allowed to ask one question to ONE of the computers (you pick which one) about which one is the right switch.

What question would you ask that would result in you pushing the correct button to open the door???

You can ask either one of the computers which switch is the right one to push. If the lying computer tells you to push the black, then you would push the white button. If the truthful computer tells you to push black, then you push the black one.

Ask this to any computer "If you were to tell me a false answer, what would you say was the button that opened the door?"

In both cases, the computer will tell you the incorrect button. i.e. the true computer would honestly tell you that if it were to tell you false answer it would tell you the wrong button.
If you asked this to the false computer, it would not be honest and go ahead and give you the wrong answer anyway.

So either ways, if both say white, you press black, and if both say black, you press white.

would ask the computer: "What would the other computerl tell me if I asked it which is the right switch?"

Then take the other way since one lies and and tells the truth [negative(-) x positive (+) = Negative(-)], therefore, the opposite from what they say.

I guess i can go out now, since I know the answer ;)Tia.

If you were talking to my computer, you'd have to say PLEASE before asking it any quesitons. I made of video of my computer demanding that I say PLEASE before each request. See it at the link below.
