I have purchased a car and three motorcycles from sellers on eBay. If the seller is honest and has represented his property truthfully, then there is no problem. It's the ones who intentionally misrepresent their property that can cause problems.
Always check the seller's feedback ratings before bidding on a vehicle, and don't buy from someone who has negative feedback. Also, if at all possible, inspect the vehicle personally before you hand over the full payment on the vehicle. Other than that, it's just like buying a used vehicle from a private seller's newspaper ad.

Im not sure on this one! I brought a data cable for my phone and got the wrong one sent thru!!! Hey, could be good in that way i suppose-u could buy a clapped out old banger but they might make a mistake and send some top of the range sports car....very doubtful though!!
U want to be sure u can trust the car 100% which with no disrespect to Ebay or anyone that buys/sells cars thru Ebay, i wouldnt trust one from there!?
Think ur better going to a proper garage/showroom....at least u'll get a deal thats more honest!
Im sure ur do whats best.... did u decide to tell ur husband in person that ur having a baby?!! (just answered ur other question about telling him!!)
congratulations!!!!!

Yes.
BUT I would read the description really closely. If the seller is being honest they will point out defects, put lots of pics in the listing and tell you why they are selling. If they give you some history that will help too.
A colleague at work sold his g/f's car on eBay a few weeks ago and he did all that. He pointed out that it was a high mileage vehicle, had a slightly crumpled wing, said when and where he bought it and how much he paid. There was no reserve and he was pleased when he got 4 times what the garage had offered as p/x.

Its a minefield! There are a lot of very bad people on eBay and the used car side is horrific. Ring and ask to speak to the police officer at your local station for information on how much crime/problems they have to deal with. The answer will scare you.
Go to a garage, it may cost a little more but if it all goes pear shaped then at least you've got some cover. The trading standards are having a bad time of it because although the law on sale of goods act protects all buyers, they find it very hard to prosecute private traders.
Short answer DONT

I have purchased a car on eBay with no problems. Once again, check the seller's feedback, ask a LOT of questions and even ask for additional pictures if you are too far away from the seller to go and view the vehicle before you bid.

Not any more I hate ebay sorry fee bay. Why should I grace them with my $ and the sellers dollar too. They also have NO protection for the buyer if it's a dud. There's even less protection for the seller if they get a winning bidder that doesn't pay. If the seller is local than I'd look at it in person and do a off ebay deal (that would really piss fee bay off)

I've bought a car from ebay and a luton van and trust me i'd never do it again. well ripped off. I arranged to go have a look at it and did, everything was fine agreed to buy it but only had the cash the following week so had to travel back to buy it. Well....driving it home it defo had bits taken off it and changed etc etc . Simple answer dont do it just to be safe. look in the autotrader or local paper to find a bargain. Or even one of these salvage yards i've had some mega deals from them.

I have bought a car and a motorcycle off of ebay and both times I drove to Florida to pick them up.I encountered problems with both vehicles after purchasing them. I wouldnt do it again. You can buy a used car closer to home and research the particular car better [drive it, take it to mechanic, more time to think about it] but that is just my opinion. Good luck!

buying a car from ebay can be the same as buying one from the local paper just treat it like that and make sure you check out the car first.
