And the number one reason why people deny the existence of an Almighty God is....
If Christians hadn't come up with a crapload of other miracles and diasters that can't be proven as well, maybe we'd buy into the God thing. But they had to keep testing the limits of logic with every precious word of that New Testament, and then well, the Bible is pretty miraculous, too; seas of blood and talking bushes... Now we won't believe anything you say, hehe.

It seems strange that such a question could mystify you because faith is not an easy path in a World filled with pain, suffering, evil, humiliation and plain old science. Being an atheist is far less spiritual effort. In the contemporary period science is beginning to explain some of the mysteries of the universe which were beyond us before now. Such explanations seem far more probable to a person not brought up in a religion. In order to ensure that a person is religious some form of brainwashing must take place at some point whether the person is a willing adult or a helpless child.
Try visiting the American Atheists website or reading The Salmon of Doubt by Douglas Adams for some intelligent atheist arguments.

I guess out of fear for most people. If there is a God, you could be judged for all of eternity to damnation.... That really doesn't sound to fun to many people, however, if you deny the existence of God then you are more able to lie, cheat, steal, and do all the fun things without worry, because hey, once I die what does it matter what I have done? I will just be dust in the wind, and nothing more. I would say fear is the single biggest reason. Sure people try to fluff whatever forms of contrived logic they can think up to try and prove there is no God, but really they are just trying to convince themselves out of fear.
I remember back in high school, an atheist science teacher was explaining how theorists believed the universe started. She went on to say that it was the big bang that created everything, and not a god, not a supreme being. I simply posed the question to her, is it any more likely that all of this matter; all of this energy that formed, and made the big bang magically existed, than it is for some sort of being to have existed and to have created it? If the big bang is true, then where did all of the matter and energy come from? I’ll buy that there might have been some fantastic cosmic explosion of matter and energy, but where did all of the matter and energy come from? She was dumbfounded, and at that point could provide no intelligible answer. She refused to see both sides of the equation, and therefore limited herself to illogical answers and as a scientist this is something you can not do. Anyone who closes their mind to an equally likely possibility has no place being a science teacher
In truth, they both sound like fairytales, I mean on one end you have all of this matter, energy, and everything that makes up…. well everything, including our bodies, simply having had always magically existed, be it in some super giant black hole that ruptured, or whatever the current prominent theory is, but the point is, something can’t come from nothing, so that matter, and energy needed to come from somewhere, or, it simply magically existed? Or, you have some being that was so immensely powerful that they were able to create it all?
Logically speaking, the existence of a God, or of some being that is so much more immensely powerful, or evolved than us as humans that we simply can’t under stand it at all is just as likely as anything else. When a scientist is staring down his microscope looking at some protozoa perhaps an ameba, or whatever, do you think that the ameba is able to understand, and comprehend the scientist? Does he understand him? We, in the eyes of God, or in the eyes of this being that is so much further ahead on the evolution chain must seem like ameba’s or some sort of protozoa, and we, are as likely to understand and comprehend him, as the ameba in the microscope is to understand us as humans.
So, final answer is fear and ignorance I guess. I am not a religious person at all, but yes, I do believe there is a God, or some “Supreme being(s)”. Logically, it just makes sense.

I think some people are afraid of the idea or others feel let down because something in their life didn't go there way and they need something to blame. What they don't realize is that without bad times and mistakes, they would never evolve into better, stronger individuals. "There is no scientific proof" is a cop out. What is love? Where does it come from and what does it look like? You can't prove love with math or science, but everyone feels it's power at some point in thier life.

Whats almighty about it...
Why deny the existance of santa claus, the tooth fairy, leprechauns who live down the road from your god.
Its total hogwash mate. no evidence and a pysch trick to manipluate you... Like inventing silicon heaven in Red dwarf and progamming all the robot that if they are not dutiful and act like a skivey they wont go to robot heaven.
Plus the intelligent look at the history of the god squad and all they see is abuse, mass murder, toture witch burning , relgious wars etc...
And then anaylse that with thwe history of the new age pagans and the gays ...
Then work out did tthe gays burn people alive for healing the sick? Did the christians? gays good, christians bad and god non existant.

When man created god, it was to explain the awesome and inexplicable, e.g. lightening, fire, death, etc. That was such a long time ago and human beings have learned so much since then. What amazes me is the number of people who hang on to the idea of the existence of an almighty god!

a/ you cannot see God, only feel him.
b/ at times you can be so angry at him that you question your belief in him
c/ there are some die hard scientists who need proof to believe in anything.
God has made us all different. He did so because he knows that we as humans tend to get bored very easily. He made us different so that we can continually see new things and learn new things from each other. If you meet someone who denies HIS existence, maybe you can teach him something, or learn some new perspective from him. Do not judge people if they do not hold the same beliefs as you. God does not want you to do that.

Maybe they refuse to believe because they're sick of people pushing the notion on them. Or maybe they don't want to be forced to live a certain way just to get somewhere in the end that might not even exist. It could ALSO be because miracles (like the water into wine thing, etc.) don't happen on miraculous scales anymore...If at all. Or they could be afraid that maybe there really IS something bigger out there than themselves...

see, basically it depends on what type of a life a person is living. if his work is being done peacefully, without any impediments he believes in god. if his prayers are not being answered, if he's in sickness, has lost a loved one, in a financial crunch, he has no reason 2 believe in god.
other atheists might be die-hard science enthusiasts.
it's an undeniable thing that some people do NEED to witness a miracle to start believing in god. u cannot help and alter some ppl's psychologies easily by telling them that there is a god abt whom we study in a scripture, who can perform gr8 tasks.
i am a believer, but sometimes i myself have fights with god. can't help it.
