I'm nearly 60 and was a practicing Christian for over thirty years. I am currently an atheist.
Here is the real answer:
The bible is a book of mythology. If you choose to believe it to be true, that is your right. However, if that's your choice, stop asking questions about it, or trying to make logical sense of it.
Take it on faith because that's the only way it can be taken.

Well... mind the History.... sometimes they are in parables, so we are not quite know what few of them meant. However, besides History, there is the teachings. We must focus on that. Because Christianity believes in kindness, love, patience, self-control, humility, forgiveness, etc. Because we are humans it is hard for us to be entirely perfect, and through Christianity, we can find the key to live a better life. No matter how we interpret the moon, earth, animals, and other historical stories, we must not forget the true teachings (we should not kill or hurt others because of those). We also know that the religion and people are separate. Religion is just a tool to make us better people. People are people. So, do not worry too much about worldly historical stuff that could probably a parable or metaphor. Worry about the real spiritual teaching.

Can I add few more points?
Where does Humpty Dumpty live? Where is the nowhere land? If we cannot see the fairies, do they really exist?
Anyway... coming to bible... When did god create man? According to bible it was all done in 7 days? Then how come mankind came into existance after 65 million years of dinosaurs? Are the scientists lying about the age of dinosaur fossils? what about the life before dinosaurs? It would have taken them million of years to come into existance from the first single cell organism? Why are the scientists cooking up all this? Why cant they just accept that it was done all in 7 days? Are all scientists athiest then? Or are they satan in different forms? What a conspiracy... phew.

What few people who read the Bible understand, is that the scriptures are an allegorical account where what appears to be historical, is really a portrayal of the readers own mind. Those who understand what is called the Key of Knowledge, are able to turn the scriptures within themselves, and use the inner wisdom to unlock the inner "narrow gate" to the Kingdom which Jesus said would never come upon the earth in the manner that men predict (see http://GateOfEden.com )

Well maybe because the bible was written by man not by god and man is most certainly flawed and it was their interpretation of what they thought god was saying, of course its not word for word from god so man had to fill in the middle a bit and for the most part i believe the bible to be fiction based on some actual events and facts. But we will never really know all those answers to all those questions along with so many more.

Look. God is God of people. I’m God of Abraham Isaac…. All of the people. He don’t want to I teach science.. He is the creator and he knows better for all the scientist what happens to space.. He gave food to people that they could afford. The cattle-breeder farmer man of the time that genesis was written; saw level earth. Makes that different God that is He?. Or God is only scents’ God? The same did Jesus with parables.
I believe that about God’s revelation to people Bible is a vary reliable book. Today’s science does not prevent me to belive.Bible don’t say don’t be a science but says be (like) children in behaviour avoiding malice and mischief

There is no possible way that all these questions can be answered sufficiently here. You say you've been studying the Bible for a number of years, with who have you been studying? Surely the college or university you study with deal with these issue. Maybe you should joing a homecell at your local Church and study with them to dig away at some of your queries. That is, of course, if you're really looking for the answers.

G'day mate. Bible was written by many prophets according to their insight. The book contains valuable information and gives people much to think about, very much. There are however many delusional people who accept those works as "god breathed" Spiritual inspiration I get from bibles; scientific facts I get from Discovery Channel.

religious books were written at a time when science, education, logic, medicine all were considered satanic ( anti- christ ),therefore all the facts you see in any old religios books would be devoid of logic or basic understanding. those who spoke against the church were branded heretic. But all this was done to give a direction to humanity, religion by itself is not bad but it is the people who preach who decipher the teachings and writings in a way which suits their selfish interests. So stop finding faults and surrender yourself to god.
god bless you!

In reference to one of your questions...Noah was told to bring 2 of all living creatures (living creatures translated back to the Hebrew means 2 of every race male and female and their mate) 2 of every kind of creature that 'moves' along the ground, and in addition 7 of every 'clean' animal and their mate (used for sacrifices) and 2 of every animal, male and female and its mate. as well as 7 of every kind of bird and their mate.
You can document this in Genesis 6:19-20 and Genesis 7: 1-3
The Strong's Concordance is an excellent source of definitions and translations from the original texts.
