Prayer is Prescence of mind and GOD consciousness.
Prayer can be defined in 2 ways.
1) You pray (Worship GOD and obey HIS commandments) 'as though you see HIM'.
2) If you dont see him (which is the case) then Pray (Worship GOD and obey HIS commandments) as HE truly sees you.
Prayer should not be limited just to 'folding of hands' for some time and thats all. Prayer means being aware that GOD is always watching you, and you are accountable for what ever Good and Evil you do. This is the Islamic perception of Prayer.

Everybody prays in there own way. I mean you could bow your head and put your hands together or close your eyes or just sit there talking. You dont have to pray for anything in spacific. Just talk to god, once you start sometimes its hard to stop. Dont hold back, your talking to god, The only person you can talk to, that wont laugh, judge or ignore you. Its easy trust me i use to no believe in prayer, then i did it once and realized just how much talking to god helps. Good luck!

When i am laying in bed at night and the house has fallen quiet and is deep in slumber i address God. I thank him first and foremost for all the blessings and wonderful things he has given to me. I also never forget to thank him for the little things we can so easily take for granted like good health and safety for my family and friends and their happiness and general well being. I kind of feel like you need to pay your respects and let him know that his good deeds and love and kindness haven't gone unnoticed or unappreciated before i go spouting out with i wants and will you get me's. Then i pray that he continue to protect and watch over my family and friends, keeping them happy , healthy and safe. After that if i have any special needs or concerns then i proceed with that and i end with thanks again and " In your name i pray, amen" And above all pray with your whole heart.

Mostly I just sit there and pray silently. I don't get down to my knees in a public place, that would be daft and could seem false.
