As an art lover, this is a very hard question to answer! It is also difficult because many of the paintings I find amazing or interesting might not pass as beautiful :) but here are a few of my top paintings. I'll start with the cliche'd one: sunflowers by van gogh. I just love it because he painted many many versions of this exact work until he was finally happy with it, and you can SEE his amazing personality (including all the confusion and conflict) in this work. It really moved me when I saw it in real life in london for the first time. I even got tears in my eyes! (prob a bit lame to admit that :)
I'm also quite a fan of Gustav Klimt's work, particularly The Kiss (this is also quite a cliche'd one but anyway!) It is just amazing and full of emotion that is easy to relate to.
Then something that isnt fully PAINTED but is a great work is Richard Hamilton's Just What Is It...? It is remarkable.
What is your favourite painting?

Jan Styka's "The Crucifixion" is 195 ft long and 45ft high is the largest frame mounted canvas painting in existence currently hangs in the hall of Crucifixion-Ressurection at Forest Lawn memorial park in Glendale, California. It took Jan Styka five years to finish his masterpiece. I've been to a lot of museums and galleries but nothing come close to the mastery of execution and visual impact of Jan Styka's work. It is amazing that an artist could muster the courage and the creative energy to sustain him though out the whole process. It was painted in the grandness and vision akin to that of John Borglum's Mt Rushmore. When Jan asked the Pope in Rome to bless his brushes and art materials, the Pope knew then that Styka will be painting the most beautiful painting ever painted. It is definitely one painting worth seeing before you die !!!

I love all Vangogh paintings (I hope I spelled his name right.) You should get a clear website full time if you look him up on web. My favorite is the one with the yellow flowers in a vase. I also love his collection of paintings that are inspired by Japanese culture and paintings.

When I think of beauty in painting I think of Sandro Botticelli. There's three of his I can't choose from. Two in the Uffizi, Florence and one in the National Gallery, London.
They are Primavera, Venus and Venus and Mars.
