If you get a letter from your doctor saying that you qualify for a service dog, no landlord or anyone elce for that matter can prevent you from owning a service dog where ever you go or live.

depending on how severely bipolar you are, you may be eligible for a service animal (like a seeing eye dog). I ran into a similar problem in my area when trying to find a place, but I ended up staying with my parents until I found a place. There are some places that will allow pets, but they generally charge MUCH more rent than places that don't because animals might damage the apartment. Of course there's always the option of getting a small caged animal and not letting anyone know about it, but that's pretty risky and can get you evicted.

Being a dog lover , owning 2, I understand why landlords don't like dogs.
It is very expensive to repair damage and each dog causes different types of damage.
My pup chewed big chunks out of my carpet in 3 rooms. They pee in the house and it's nearly impossible to get rid of the odor without replacing carpet.
I had a dog that scratched closed doors to the point of total destruction.
As a home-owner, that's my problem but I wouldn't rent my house to anyone with a dog. Cats are less of a problem.

Try asking the landlords if you can pay an extra deposit for your pet. It may cost a bit, but if you really want a dog that badly, you can afford it.

Look on the net. There is a place for pet friendly landlords to list.

I don't understand too. In my place, only dogs are not allowed sometimes but most of the time they don't care whatever pets you look after. If even fish are not allowed, i think that's very strange.

Unfortunately Landlords have to set limits because tenants let animals do a lot of damage and sometimes move without notice. Tenants cause cockroaches and fleas too.

I've come to the conclusion that Landlords are just jerks. If you were asking about a cat, I would tell you to just sneak it in but you can't really sneak a dog in because they have to go for walks. Sorry.

Because deposits can't cover the damage a pet can potentially do...or a two year-old. And just because they say no pets, whoopie-doo...get something small that stays inside, like a guinea pig...they'll be none the wiser.......most of the time.(and stop making fun of the mentally challenged:)

You should pay the lords extra money to keep the dog, and I know, dogs are really cute! If you want one, you have to make sacrifices for the better good...
