I've tried putting treats inside, taking the roof off the doghouse and putting food and treats inside, I even crawled in myself and fed her treats from the front entrance of the doghouse to try and get her to come in. She follows me everywhere, but she is refusing to walk inside.. any suggestions would be great. Thanks.

P.S. I can fit inside and turn around in the house itself, and she is only a 45 pound dog. I only want her to have the doghouse for when me and my husband are both at work, just in case it rains.

crawl back inside and call her in with you, or grab her collar and drag her in with you. stay in the house talking to her and telling her nice things while giving her treats for 10 min. after that she will go in on her own because then she will know its not a scarey place

First of never beat any dog with a broom as it hurts being a solid implement. Your mother beat the living Hell out of a dog well bully for her I bet that made her feel very proud. I would hate to be the new owner of that poor creature. You've told a very long story when it could have been shortened by getting some rules and regulations issued to your dogs, now look you've gave one away like a discarded shoe box and another is stressed out and you yourself are not that concerned. I'm sorry I can't pat you on the back and say well done as you are at fault but as usual the pets suffer. My advice is just feed Prissy and let her take treats from your hand and walk her on her own with you so that she bonds more and feels safer. I don't understand what pit you are on about and can only guess, to be blunt why do people like you and your mother have animals as all I have read is chaos and shocking crulety. Shame on all of you.

Get some of your old clothes that have your scent and line the house with them. She proably won't like it but put her in the house after you have done that and spend some time with her. Pet her and feed her a bit maybe. Do that once a day or so and she'll start to see the house as somthing to live in.

Patience...for sure. Hopefully it is big enough to get the upper part of your body in.
Keep the roof on and hang out and watch tv or just kick back until you can coax her in.
If it is outside...heck if I was her, I wouldn't go out there either.
If she is used to being in the house, then what is wrong with that?
Would you want to hang outside in the cold, by yourself, with all those scary noises, and whatever else is out there?
Hey now, dogs are just little people in dog suites that can't reach the zipper in the back to let them out.
Sell the dog house and just let her sleep on the floor at the end of the bed. Or with one of your kids.
Dogs are excellent alarms, they will always love you, they are always happy to see you. They will never steal from you. They will never cheat on you.
And all of this....no matter what your day has been like!
Seriously, let her hang in the house..

Wethoser1 gives a great answer. Also make sure a favorite toy is in the house too. Remember some dogs are afraid of thunder and lightning too.

Try placing her in it for a few minutes, then let her out of it. Do this everyday to try and get her used to it. Also, don't forget to add her favorite toys, blanket (if she has one) and treats help too. Patience is a virtue, especially with dogs. Simply trying placing her in it for short times during the day, everyday. Hope this works!

She's much too smart to fall for that. She knows you will let her come into the people-house when it rains if she never goes into the doghouse.

I would try bringing the dog house in your house and working w/ her inside.... put her morning food in the house and when she gets hungry she will smell that the food is in their... might just go in if shegets hungry enough. If you can get her in while the house in in your house... do that for a few days then try moving it outside while still feeding her in it. hope this works

Maybe she just wants to stay in the house with you.
I know this is not very helpful but i dont believe in leaving dogs outside
Cute little doggy house or not.

Don't you think your dog house is so small that she is afraid to get in because she thinks she'll be lock in there and could not come out any more ? If that is so , then better build a bigger one for her.
