Whar do you have to say about human rights?

I think we all need to respect others the way we would want to be respected. I think that is the essence of human rights.

I really think they should have higher priority than they do in today's economically-driven society.

The world is advanced enough now that human rights abuses shouldn't be tolerated...instead of the world turning a blind eye when it's convenient (e.g. for trade)

The problem is...how.

Sanctions work in theory but the damage is passed on to the people...and war is even worse...

I believe human rights have been violated (by ourselves!) every day for the history of mankind. It's in our nature to eliminate or change those who differ from ourselves in all sorts of ways. Try as we might, overcoming our baser nature has proved to be an impossible task so far. So how do we? That is the million dollar question that may be forever unanswered.

I beleive that we all have the right to make choices in our on lives wheather it is about our body, careers, whatever as long as we are not effecting someone elses lives we should have that choice. I also am a firm beleiver that I have the right to beleive what I choose, and that even if you don't agree with me that is okay you also have the freedom to make your on choices. I mean If someone is extremely ill and they are not going to get better if they want to not accept treatment that should be that persons right. I also believe that we sometimes forget that we have the freedom to make our choices and so does everyone else.
