First, she probably misses her owner & she's depressed. This will cause her not to eat which will cause her to be lethargic. Feeding her anything other than a bland diet (chicken, white rice) or her regular food can cause an upset stomach and she won't want to eat. You could contact her vet & have some blood work done to see if there's something going on inside, but a lot of dogs just get sad when their best friend is gone.

My dog behaves similarly when I'm away. You want to make sure they eat the dog food to get the proper nutrition though. Try hiding a small amount of chicken under the dry dog food...that way the dog will have to eat their own food to get to the treat. Also, the dog may usually be kind of lazy, you may just be used to the excitement they display when a guest is in the house from previous visits. If there is a way you can talk to your friend, let them know about your concerns and see if they feel a trip to the vet is warranted or not.

Put your foot down and only give the dog food. She will get to where she will eat. She is missing her (pack) family. It is not uncommon for a dog to not eat for a day or two in a new environment. We deal with this all the time in rescue. If you continue to give treats, then she will hold out for them, not eating her regular food. Diet change can upset their stomachs.

When dog is sick he/she will not show liking for the food. Both ears will be on warmer side and nose will be dry.

If dog shows above signs for more than 24 hrs, dog can be taken to Vet. for the treatment.

If dog is eating snacks it means she is missing her owner.

If you suspect that the dog is sick, then I would take it to a vet for a cursory examination. It is possible that the dog is suffering from separation anxiety, due to it's owners being gone. Many dogs can react that way when their owners take off and leave them.

Dogs behave differently when their owner is gone. I watched my Grandmothers dog for a week. It had diahria all over the house until she came back.
