If that happened, it would be taken -in the Muslim idea- as an act against god himself.

No.

The reason for muslims to have more than one wife was because back in the days there were more number of women than men. It was done so that they all got to get married without being deprived. This was also to be done with the wife's permission. But that doesnt mean one can go to bed with more than one.

No!! Of course not. Muslim men are allowed to marry up to four women in the same time, but NOT to have sex with them in the same time. Why can men marry more than one woman:
1-Man's nature leads him to look to other women even when he's married. So which is better, to commit adultery, or to have sex with a legitimate wife?
2-Statics show that most countries have higher percentage of women than men, so when a man marries more than one woman, it's actually to help solve this problem
3-Polygamy is allowed in cases that are a little extreme, in which you MUST love your wives and treat them in the same degree of justice, God said in the Holy Qur'an:
4:3 (A chapter named "Al-Nissa" or "The Women")
"And if you feared not to be just with orphans, marry women you like, two, three or four, and if you feared not be (Absolutely) just, then marry only one..."
Which makes polygamy not a rule to follow, but rather an extreme case.

In Islam, Going to bed with wife is not an animal act, it is a matter of love and mutual respect, with total privacy, keeping in mind that it is a gift from Allah.
Muslims are not allowed, even, to talk about their sexual activities with their partners to any one except the partner.
