If I sincerely love a woman, and I tell her that I want her to love me in return--or else, then I am a stalker. But as I understand it, Jesus loves me, and wants me to retutrn his love--or else I face an eternity in hell. What's the difference, and why is Jesus not considered a stalker?

No, to be charged with stalking typically one has to harass or intimidate the victim to the point where he or she would have a reasonable fear of being injured or killed by the alleged stalker. So, unless Jesus is threatening you or hanging around outside your house in a 97 Honda Accord with the lights turned off then no, he wouldn't be charged with stalking.

When a man says this type of thing to a woman, the "or else" is possible torture & even death. Jesus is saying that what you now live in is death,,,& He is offering you eternal Life with Him in Heaven. Heaven is a place where there is no sickness, death, disease, tears, pain...etc...the "or else" is a choice that you can make that will be the opposite of all that Jesus is trying to rescue you from. ie"eternal damnation...or as some would say..forever separated from God, (Love) by your own free will.

Actually a good question. Jesus however is giving you a choice and leaving you alone. Where as you may go into a jealous rage and kill the girl you are after.

Yup.

In some ways the theology of the Christian church is that of spiritual rape. Christ does indeed force his way into your life and doesn’t leave when asked politely.

Because he loves you and doesn’t want you to die.

Because even if you do hate him, you are his creation and he is not willing to loose you.

But it is very perceptive of you to notice – most people answering the question obviously don’t understand the question yet.

Because Jesus is God.
Because Jesus is not chasing you around or harassing you.
Jesus gives you the free will to reject him. Your decision is up to you.

In the end your eternal destination will be determined.

You raise a valid point. Though I believe you have to accept him as your savior, I don't think you have to love him. If I love him but don't accept him as my savior then what? hmmm....
btw for others answering this question, is an eternity of torture really better than death?

No, Jesus didn't really say all that... people did. "Gospel" comes from the same root word as "gossip"... so you might consider slander on the part of Christians before you consider stalking on the part of Christ.

Because if you want you can go to hell (no offense). If he'd stalk us and wouldn't leave us alone until we convert, everybody would be going to heaven..
