Do not use Advantage. It is not as good as Frontline as another person answered. Furthermore, Frontline is more water resistant than Advantage.
However, better than either of these is Revolution. Not only does it do everything that Frontline does, but it also prevents Heartworms. No need to feed your dog pills anymore! I've recently switched from Frontline to Revolution, and it is so convenient. One drop between the shoulders and no fleas, no ticks, no eggs, and no heartworms!
Btw, in Australia, Revolution is cheaper and does not require a prescription. If you are interested, I purchase mine from this Australian site which is quite reputable and responsive and much cheaper than US distributors (and has cheap shipping to the US):

Hope this was helpful!

Advantage only kills the fleas, but Frontline kills the eggs too, which is really important in putting a stop to fleas. Actually, Frontline has an IGR, which prevents the eggs from hatching. It also kills ticks. I personally use Frontline Plus.
You just place the drops between the shoulder blades, getting under the fur and you're ready to go. Don't bath your dog 24 hours after putting on the drops though. Good luck.

WELL KEEP A CLEAN HOUSE, VACUUM WELL, But also since it is the summer season coming, check with vet for Program, ADVANTAGE, OR FRONTLINE and heart worm, they have many products available. A lot of store products like Hartz, flea collars, I find did not do a good job, and fleas kept returning, as it would kill the adult flea, but not eggs.
S best advice see VET, and get a product that kills all cycle of life for the flea.

Treat your house and yard for fleas and put something on your dog like Advantage (which I feel is safer than other similar products). Be consistent with all three of these things and you'll be able to keep your dog flea-free.

Put up a sign that says.." No Flea's Allowed " section ..flea'1836 -f of the federal penal code... just kidding.. heehaws
flea baths, flea powder and flea collars.. you must also rid flea's in your yard. and anywhere else.. keep your dog away from suspicious areas.. there are powders and sprays for your yard carpet etc.. I've heard of some breeders using small amounts of garlic in the feed to help that out.. some swear by it some don't.
The garlic is mixed with a treat like hamburg so the dog is sure to eat it
some people use diatomacious earth in there yard and carpets for flea eggs but talk with a local feed/pet/nursery store or your vet. you might do a search on the Internet to.. look up dog breeders of all sorts and breeders of hunting dogs.. you might try some of name brand pet care makers too.
oh yeah.. just remembered something, there's this stuff called sheep dip that one can pick up at a feed store.. its for sheep obviously. but I've known some ranchers whom have used to dip there dogs in for fleas and ticks.. the problem is getting your dog in the dip.. its mixed in a tub a water then the animal is dipped in it. talk to feed store if interested

Advantage, K9 advantix, or frontline. Revolution is supposed to be a good product also, but the fleas have to bite the dog for it to work. The first three products do not.

According to our holistic vet, Advantage is the lesser "evil" of flea drops - the other leading brands are a lot more toxic. There are other non-chemical ways of treating for fleas, but they require more work.
You may want to try FleaBusters:

You can also use nematodes (comes in powder). I think Home Depot carries that product too.

i think there is this drop that you put on your dog maybe once a month or so, i think its calle advantix, or something like that. if you cant afford to go to the vet, (which you should if your having a problem). then just go to petsmart and talk to one of the workers there. they may be able to help. flea wash is good and combing the fur, both on a regular basis. flea collar? good luck.
