If you're just starting out, simply eat a healthy, balanced diet, stay well hydrated and get plenty of rest. Muscles grow when they are taken to the point of failure (complete muscle exhaustion), then given say 48 hours to recover and build new tissue. And different training regimens build different bodies - compare sprinters (short, intense work) with distance runners (longer, lower intensity stress). Short, intense workouts build the greatest muscle mass.

The great-granddaddy of all of the early studies about this is the famous "Colorado Experiment," where Arthur Jones (founder of Nautilus) trained Casey Viator to a muscle gain of over 60 pounds in less than one month (!). Admittedly Viator is an exceptional subject, but the key was short, very intense workouts, not a particular pill or supplement.

So to answer your question directly, the vitamin that builds muscle is whatever one it takes to get you to the gym and work hard. :-)

None. You need an over all balanced diet. In general proteins build muscle, not vitamins.

Chromium helps build new muscle and Vitamin C muscle repair because to build it you have to break it down first. Also high protein in your diet and some carbs for energy. take care.
