That's exactly what's been left for us to read in the letters to the Corinthians. Christians, generally, believe Paul wrote those words, so they should have no difficulty believing that Paul fully intended for women to keep their heads covered. Christians, generally, would call those words "inspired" and/or "Words of God." But, I'll bet Christians will weasel out of it somehow as is convenient for them.

Which part of the Bible did you read this in? If it is in the Old Testament, then much of what was law in the O.T. was modified in the N.T. It was part of Christ's purpose. Additionally, remember that specific books were written towards specific audiences with specific heritage, location, etc. For example, pig is not a "kosher" food because, in early times, undercooked pig caused many illnesses and deaths.
The Bible also calls for animal sacrifice, but we do not do so. We are not meant to live "by the book" and only so. Contrary to what Protestants say, faith is not based solely on Scripture. Never in the Bible does it say "Solo Scriptoro" (Only Scripture)
Don't knock a religion until all aspects are examined.
In addition, it probably referred to some form of modesty and a warning against tempting the sins of the flesh.

I the days of Paul all the prostitutes used to shave their heads; then you would know they were prostitutes. When Paul did his crusades it's a given that many of these prostitutes were saved. Now, instead of being recognized as a prostitutes he advised them to cover their heads so that the men walking along the streets would not think they were on the job. Until their hair grew back he told the to use their own discretion.

This is only when praying and if you go on reading in that chapter of 1 Corinthians 11 Paul states in vs 16 that the church has no such custom.

Paul wrote that in a letter to the corinthians. Now you know why many people say the bible is BS, and why christians who follow it, don't know what the hell they're talking about. It also mentions how it is wrong for men to have long hair... seriously ... (uh... wonder what Jesus and john the baptist had..)

That was written by St Paul in a particular context and is not a spiritual instruction to be followed by every one. However, in many christian denominations, wome do cover their head.

the bible is meant to be used as guidelines.
the stories in there are to be used to help guide our choices.
the head-cover thing is so people view women for their mind and personalities and not for their appearance.
Not everyone believes that they need a cover on their head to make people view them for who they are.
