Does any one know why your loved ones are the only ones that can really hurt you? I don't really understand it. The crulest person in the world could still be nicer to you then that one person that you love. Can someone give me a logical answer to this?

theres one sad truth in life i've found,while journeying east and west-the only folks we really wound, are those we love the best.We flatter those we scarecly know, we please the fleeting guest, and deal full many a thoughtless blow, to those who love us best. I read this somewhere and this pretty much sums up to me your question

i know i have been with this guy for 3 years and we are still together. Out of all the boyfriends i have had he is the only one i have loved. Also the only guy i have cried over. He is the sweetest person in the world but when we argue we really get down. He hurts me so bad at times that i break down in tears right in front of him but thats when the sweetness comes out of him because he walks to door but always turns back and we make up. So hang in their because if it is love you will know> People say tjhat no love hurts but, sometimes i think you have to go through tests to see how strong your love is. it is not trying to hurt you it is just trying to test your faith and love for the other person. So Hang in there it might be real love

The answer is a very basic concept...the only reason that your loved ones are the only ones that can hurt you is because you care so much as to their opinions. A perfect stranger can walk up to you and tell you that you look like something the cat dragged in. Your response is one of "who the heck are you,anyways"?, and "Your opinion matters to me because....."?..... When your loved ones say the same thing it hurts because we put emotional value on what they say. If you didn't care about them then they couldn't hurt you because their opinions wouldn't matter.

I THINK BECAUSE YOU LOVE THEM AND CARE WHAT THEY SAY AND THINK AND WHEN THEY DO SOMETHING HURTFUL TO YOU ITS HARD TO UNDERSTAND WHY SOMEONE THAT YOU LOVE WOULD WANT TO MAKE YOU FEEL THIS WAY BECAUSE YOU KNOW THAT LOVE IS NOT SUPPOSE TO HURT WHILE ON THE OTHER HAND IF SOMEONE ON THE STREET TELLS YOU THAT SHIRT MAKES YOU LOOK FAT YOU COULD CARE LESS WHAT THEY THINK YOU PROBABLY WOULD CURSE THEM OUT AND NOT EVEN GIVE WHAT THEY SAID A SECOND THOUGHT AND WHEN YOU GET HOME AND YOUR LOVED ONE TOLD YOU THE EXACT SAME THING YOU WOULD FEEL HURT AND SAD BECAUSE YOU LOVE THIS PERSON

The reason is very simple, they have the right to hurt you, some times their over concern for you may hurt you, other people don't care for you much, they just maintain the friendship in a diplomatic way..

Yes. They can hurt you because they are familiar to you and your weaknesses. They hurt you because you value their input and you want their approval. Total strangers usually don't bother people too much. Mentally or physically, when someone you don't know, and offends you; you do one of two things; you either don't let it bother you, or, you tell them to screw off.
