The Bible itself is made up of many different books that were written by different people in different languages (Greek, Hebrew, Aramaic) throughout different ages. The texts themselves were written hundreds of years ago. Because the different materials that the original books were written on would have deteriorated over time (and ancient texts were written on a variety of materials), people had to copy them if they wanted to preserve them for their own use or for libraries, churches, kings, etc. When you also factor in the fact that these copies also had to be translated into different languages, and that some words have multiple meanings this makes for a tricky situation.
To make it even more confusing, there are many ancient texts, most notably the Apocrypha, that are books that were said to be written by Biblical characters, but are not included in certain versions.
For example, the Jewish Bible (the Tanakh) basically consists of the writings of the Old Testament. The Christian Bible (Protestant -Christian) Includes the Old and New Testaments but not the Apocrypha) and the Catholic denomination Bible includes some of the Apocryphal books (Tobit, Judith, Wisdom, Ecclesiasticus, Baruch, First and Second Maccabees,Additions to Esther and Daniel).
So, to make a long story short, there are many different versions because not everyone can agree on which books to include, or which translations are "Correct". Also, because words change their popular meanings over time, newer versions and translations keep coming up to try to keep the main ideas clear over time and for future generations.

The Koran and the Bible have been translated into a variety of languages, so people who don't speak the original languages of these texts can learn a significant degree of what was written in the original languages. For a long time the Roman Catholic Church has thought of the Latin language in a similar manner to what Muslims have thought of the Arabic language--that it is the only proper language in which to translate the Bible. Some of my Protestant friends believe the same about the King James Version of the Bible. Once the Koran and Bible are translated into other languages some of the linguistic nuances are altered. For those of us Christians who want to maintain an accurate understanding of the biblical text, we have studied Hebrew, Greek, and sometimes other ancient near eastern languages. A love for God, His word, and truth causes us to know the contents of the Bible as accurately as possible.
Many who speak of the Bible's "inerrancy" or "infallibility" usually refer to the original text, realizing that some things are "lost in translation" (or transmission).
By the way, Christians differ in their interpretations of the same text just like Muslims do, but we pray that God will lead us to the right conclusion.

even though I don't exactly believe in the Bible I will explain why there are more then 1 version.
Firstly forget about the Quran, and any other books that are not the Bible, these are sepereate books. They might have added them, but you qustion aims at the original Bible.
See we as man do not need to know everything, some things are better left out. Example in the US the country has documents which it's people are not allowed to see because of National security, same applies to the Church.
Imagine if there was a text that stated you did not have to go to Church all you had to do is pray once on Sunday. A lot of people would stop going to church; but that is not the reason that the church would not have put it in. It's what happen to those people.
See people would stop going to church saying I will pray on Sunday. Then they would party all Saturday night and sleep in the next morning. After finnally waking up they would say something like, "Oh my gosh I need to get all this stuff done before I have to go back to work tommarrow." After they completed everything they would sit back and relax before going to bed. As for praying; if they remembered, they would say, "Oh, I can do it after I finish this up" or "I'll pray twice as hard next week". Some religions think somethings are safe for the people to know others don't.

To me n I have both the bible n the qur. The bible is simply more realistic not to put the quran down but i seems that it would be more useful to an army or a navy. The bible, lext take the four first books of the new test. - four gospels - they are different in how each guy tells the stories that are ther. Now the quran from what this guy from india told me he was a muslim said that the way the book was originally printed is the same way as is today, now i dont know ift true or not but lets say it is, doesnt that sound a bit robotic to you.the first four books of the bible are different but that is what makes it real and true...... Listen if u grabbed three of your buddies and went to the movies and i told all 4 of you to write dowm what you see, while watching the movie, JUST THE SAME WAY JESUS TOLD HIS FOUR BUDDIES, do you think,(and there is no cheating allowed, ill put youa all in different rows) that you would come out of that theater having written word for word the exact same thing. chances are not...

first off let me say that the bible has been translated into more languages and more copies printed and sold than any other book in history.
When ancient text is transltated into different languages it is really hard to keep the word structure as similar to the original as possible. Therefore, throughtout time, a few slight changes occured. Yet I believe it is so wonderful that so many cultures can read the real word of God, The Bible!

Well first, they don't believe the Bible is a complete revelation, God had to reveal the Qu'ran to correct the mistakes in it. Also, the reason the bible has been translated but not the Qu'ran is that the bible started out being written in different languages, so they had to unify it somehow (by putting it in one language.) Muslims believe that God chose a specific language for a reason, so they do not want to change the "chosen" language, which is why there aren't countless versions of the Qu'ran floating around.

True, there are many different versions of the Bible. There are versions in Chinese for the Chinese. There are versions in Russian for the Russian people. There are actually thousands of versions of the Bible—some are in modern languages, some in foreign languages, and some are in old English. Few, in the printing age, can claim that they don’t have access to the Scriptures in their own language. However, each translation is based on the original biblical texts.

Many people think the Bible has been changed because of the different translations that are available. Instead it should be viewed at how the wording is written, to help others understand it, depending on the era.
Take the word Hello, for example. We have many different ways of saying: hi, hello, good day, good morning, evening, afternoon, hey, etc.
Don't let the fact that their are many translations around, fool you into thinking that its content has changed one iota.

There was only one word from God. It has been translated many times as people learned the old languages better. And just so you know, that the Quran was written after Jesus came, and God had said that there would be no other word given.

First off it's the Bible.
Second the Bible in no place acknowledges the quran in any way shape or form. Who ever told you that is lying.
Third unless you can show me where something has been changed you don't have an argument. Nothing has been changed and you have no proof that it has. Stop listening to the opinions of popular culture and read the Bible for yourself and you will find the truth of God revelaed to mankind in His Son Jesus Christ.
