May want to try that new shingles vaccine.

Sorry can't help with solving the underlying reason why this is occuring. Sounds like your immune system is out of whack. Maybe stress reduction and see a therapist.

HIV tested?

Age 60 because majority of case of shingles occur after the age of 60. In addition, the studies used to get FDA approval studied people 60 and over. Since you are get recurrent episodes of shingles, the vaccines would make good sense or at least worth a try. The only problem may be you insurance may not cover it.
In regards to nerd at hearts comment that the vaccine may not work could be true because your immune system may not mount a response to the vaccine and develop antibodies.

Shingles is caused by the varicella-zoster virus, which is the causative agent of Chicken Pox. When an individual contracts Chicken Pox, it is an acute reaction which the body normally fights off in a relatively short time period. However, although the illness is gone, the virus stays dormant in sensory neurons for the rest of that individual's lifetime. Shingles is the reoccurance of this virus; it comes out of dormancy and causes another acute reaction with short duration and then remains dormant again and so on. An individual with the Varicella-Zoster virus will always have it and will always be capable of a recurrance. Basically, you aren't continually "catching" shingles, it's just coming out of it's dormant state. This usually occurs when the individual's immune system weakens or when they are under stress (which also weakens the immune system). You are most likely having recurring Shingles outbreaks due to the stress you are under from the "numerous other ailments" in your life, these ailments most likely are weakening your immune system as well, making you more susceptible. Unfortunately, I'm afraid there's nothing you can do; the virus is already within your neurons, so even if you were to get a vaccine, it wouldnt be able to protect you. There's no way of really treating it either, because it is a virus. The best you can do is strengthen your immune system with a healthy diet with a lot of vitamins and also healthy lifestyles.

Good luck!

Try a homeopathic remedy called Arnica for fibromyalgia pain. I also take 800 mg. of Aleve and a 1000 mg. flaxseed oil capsule every night at bedtime as a preventive measure. Not sure what to recommend about shingles, but if the FMS symptoms can be alleviated, maybe it would take some stress off. Good luck.

I have Fibromyalgia also and neuropathy of hands and feet and legs. I have the Herpes simplex virus in my left eye from a accident. All i can tell you is the Herpes does lay dormaint and is brought on by stress and illness (common cold can trigger it) As for having your life back well you have to make the best of it Im afraid. There is no cure for Fibromyalgia or neuropathy. Or Herpes but you can and must live life as best you can. I am on of all things Elavil (which is a mood altering med) but is now used for neuropathy pain and headache and its working pretty good. And other pain meds. GOD Bless and keep positive. I am thankful to be able to even type this.

Shingles is a herpes simplex virus. Unfortunately, it lays dormant on nerves in the body. It can be triggered by stressful situations, i.e. surgery and your (too many to list) other health problems or excess emotional stress. Can't tell you exactly why so many times, though... sorry

For the past 3 years I have suffered daily with neuropathy. Well it’s been just 1 week and I just cannot put into words how brilliant my results have been. I have absolutely no more hyper sensitivity and no more agonizing burning pains. I can’t explain it, but this thing works. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing your secret with me.
