Wow, how sad. If there are kids in the house, it is probably v ery traumatic for them. It would probably be kind to offer help in any way and leave it at that.

I would wait to read the paper especially if you don't speak much to the neighbors. They will just think you are being a nosy neighbor. Or i bet you will find out from another neighbor what happened. That would bother me to, let us know when you find out now i am curious, lol. And that poor little girl , no shoes and just socks on in the rain and home alone :-( I tell ya what a great set of parents, NOT!! You did really well taking care of her until someone came home, hats off to you!!

Wait till morning then go over and ask is there anything you can do to help. But only if you mean it sincerely because people can tell when you are just trying to be nosey. So if you are truly concerned ask.

I would install a 6 foot high fence around my property (with razor wire on top) buy 2 or 3 rottweillers, and a pump action shotgun to protect myself

You don't go over there asking a bunch of questions that are none of your business. If you're concerned about a child in the home...you can call social services.

Call the jail and ask what his charges are if you know his name, it is of public record as to why people are being held. And they must be charged inside of 72 hrs or be released. I'd check 1st. Better safe than sorry!!

no, don't wait. if you wait, it'll make you a spectator like all others. you don't necesssarily need to tell them everything you saw/witnessed but inform them if they may need anything, you're available to help out as much as possible. and approach w/ caution. things like this aren't daily so the family might be a little perturbed.

Go in the morning and tell them you don't know what happened but if they need anything they can ask you. Don't be too specific about whatever happened, and DON'T mention anything about the dad being taken away.

You sound compassionate. Chances are the children are innocent and might need a friend. Just go over and see if they need help. Don't seem nosy be sypathetic

if you ask don't ask about the incident ask if theres anything you can do to help. let the neighbors tell you or like you said read it in the paper. your neighbors may need you so id certainly ask if theres anything you could do to help out. go the extra mile. food, babysitting, visit. people need people. thanks for being concerned . wish you well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
