It can also be used as an aid in headache relief; it is labeled as an antidepressent which is commonly used for headaches. I've use 25mg, 50 mg and 75 mg; I decide which one to use each night as an aid to sleep also.

amitriptyline is a genetic brand for elavils...well i take 25mg...and i also have to take another medication with it for it to work ....like i have to take ambiens with the amitirptyline to go to sleep and i guess the higher the mg...the more effective....it depends...good luck

amitryptiline is a classical anti depressant of the first generation,
used in depression,it is effective but with a lot of side effects.
you should check with your doctor for more newer drugs.
