Lots of people get nervous speaking in front of people. It is very daunting to see all those people who are hanging over your every word. When you get really nervous, take a deep breath and count to 3, then just try to continue speaking. Realize that people aren't judging you and are probably more focused on what you are reading rather than the way you are reading it. If worse comes to worse you can just look for a familiar face in the crowd, like maybe a friend, and focus your attention on them. Make it seem as if you are just there reading to your friend.

You worry so much about messing up in front of everyone that you actually end up *more* likely to mess up.
I used to sing in concerts in school and I stopped getting stage fright relatively quickly (though that might've been different if I'd had a solo :P). Usually our concerts didn't have very many ppl watching, but then we'd do the variety show and there might be up to 500 in the audience, and I still didn't get nervous because I'd gotten used to a smaller group. So one thing that might help is if you make up fake presentations and get a small group of friends to listen, to sorta prepare for the bigger groups in official situations.
Either that, or pretend they're all in their underwear. Though that might be even scarier. :P

Hi Karen! Well, you gotta be confident of urself! while speaking in front of a group, ask urself...if what ur gonna speak seems right to you, you should be able to speak it out, be it a group of 5 or 10 or 100! try going this by speaking in front of a mirror, as if ur speaking in front of people and not just urself.

It's human nature.
It doesn't matter who you are, you feel this way.
A good tip on making you feel better is to rehearse what you are going to say in front of a friend or a group of family members. Remember to breathe, but if you're prepared it will go a little smoother.

I have the same problem...I think it's somewhat normal. But to help ease up your tensions a little you just gotta practice. The more you do it the less nerve wrecking you will be in the future. Just work at it...Remember to breathe...don't hold your breath and try to remember we are all humans.

Yrs. ago, my Professor, told me{ had the same problem} to relax and pretend and put the image of the people there as Cartoon people. . When you talk, and look over the crowd, think of them a cartoons, you must practice it awhile and It really worked for me. you must visualize them at not people when speaking until they ask you questions.. Good Luck....

you probably don't like being the center of attention. besides its kinda weird when everybody is staring at you because it intimidates you and you don't want to embarrass urself. just take a deep breath and then talk as if you were the only one there. hope i could help.
