Just because you believe you are forgiven by the Almighty God does not mean you are forgiven by
the authorities. You may be guilty and have to go
to the big house and see Bubba.

That still leaves them subject to the laws of the land. True, we are forgiven. Although, that is not a reason to deliberately go out and commit sins... grace is an amazing thing. That God, chooses to forget our sin and forgive us. is mindboggling. HOwever, the crux of your question will rest with the next statement. Yes, we are forgiven. in the eyes of God... BUT, that does not release us from the consequences that we may face as a result of the sin/crime. So, while God says we are forgiven.. the law of man, still must run its course. The soul is fine, but the body.. will still face the consequences of that action.

first off, i think it is rediculous that the christian religion says that all is forgiven if you ASK. so, if a murderer asks for forgiveness he is saved from his sin. he kills again, he just asks for forgiveness AGAIN, and all is well again... and again, and again. if he repents while in the electric chair... all forgiven? i could go on and on. and i know people would say that God is a loving God and that is why he forgives every time someone says they are sorry... BUT, are they truly sorry if they KNOW, or a CERTAIN that they MAY kill again? AND THE "JUSTICE" system... what a joke. find a high dollar, winning attorney. EVERYTHING has a price in the "legal" system... the poor man looses, the rich man walks away laughing. have you ever noticed that the scales on the justice sign are SLIGHTLY tipped? that's the first thing they point out to you on the first day of law school.

not every one is a Chirstian so asking God for forgiveness has nothing to do with the laws of cities, state ,etc.Even if a Christian breaks a law and asks forgives that may be fine for the person but it has nothing to do withs the legality of the matter. Here on earth there has to be a matter of punishment, retribution, courts, and anything the act requires. Maybe God forgives but i would hate to think that every lawbreaker could say "Forgive me" and that's it.Prisons are full of people who have "found the Lord" if for no other reason than to look good when they come up for parole. There is an old say ing that there are no atheists in foxholes.

God forgives us for our sins IF we are really sorry and ask forgiveness, but he does not take away the consequences of our sin. Example, David and Bathsheba lost their infant son born out of a sinful relationship, but David did ask forgiveness and was forgiven. That Psalm is 51, one of the best ones. Another example would be a drunk driver who caused a wreck, he is sorry, he asked forgiveness and God forgives him, but the people hurt in wreck are still hurt and he will still be charged, as he should be!.

You can be a Christian and be forgiven for your sins, but if you have broken any laws of the land, you still have to suffer the consequences of your actions. Just because you are a Christian does not man you are above the law. The Bible tells us to obey the laws of the land. So if you refuse to obey, there are consequences. Act accordingly.

For a sin to be forgiven the sinner must TRULY BE sorry, don't get any stupid ideas" His omnipotence " means you can't keep secrets from God. Church and state are not partners: your penance inflicted by man and that administered by The infinite energy which is creator of all things we are conscious of will have different consequences on your soul.

We're still supposed to follow the Law.

We call God the Father, and I think of him that way - as a father. We want to do right in our father's eyes. Say we steal a candy bar from the store and get caught. We still want our Father to forgive us, BUT we still have to face up to our actions at the store.

So..that's how I see God. As a parent to us. Although we are still legally responsible for our 'sins' - we still want our Dad to forgive us.

Hope that helps.

Laws of man still follows the old testatment. Most countries like US and the western world mellow it down, whilst the most Arab worlds take it word for word.
Laws of God will always forgive you, but man's law is created to keep man safe from himself.

You're not above the law. Forgiveness is a gift from God, not a pathway to unrighteous behavior.
