Almost everything has a really strong memory attached to it and I have a deadline for having my room clean! (I've moved everything into my sister's room and she's coming back in like a week. eep.)

You MUST have some one to help you cleanup. Who can make the hard decision for you. My motto.. When in doubt, throw it out! Oh yeah i love Mr Monk too! It's a jungle out there...

Give yourself a deadline (I'll be done with this in 5 hours) start with the stuff other people would look at you funny if you got rid of (your bed, watch, dresser). Check the time. The other stuff you'll end up throwing out because you werre in such a hurry. If you've got such a great memory, you don't need the object attached to it.
Box it up and give it to Goodwill, then it'll someone else's memories, too.

I would suggest taking pictures of the things that have the strongest memory for you and making a scrap book and donating all the items for someone else to make new memories. You will always have the book and it can store easier than a bunch of stuff! Good Luck

I used to have to clean out my Dad's store and apartment about once a year because he had the same problem. He would go away and leave me the key and I would toss out a huge pile of stuff before he returned. He just couldn't be there to witness it.That takes a lot of trust.

What you could do is to give away anything that has any value at all, thus placing the burden of caring for it on someone else! After that, you could visit your stuff at their place. The rest, toss out!

The latest research is showing that the problem with obsessive collecting is that the person views throwing things away as a punishment. My sister is also this way and she percieves her posessions as the most important things in her life, even over family and relationships. I think you'll have to get to the point where you view posessions as temporary and realise that they are not the be all and end all of life. Remember, the person who dies with the most toys at the end of their life still dies. It is our memories which make life special, not the objects we associate them with. Good luck and be happy.

Honey this Is easy. First Make Up Your Mind that you want your space back. Then make several piles or use labeled totes of things you want to keep, toss, donate or sell. Remember If you haven't used It In 6 months or a year...Toss It in the designated tote. It will be hard at first. But keep In mind Your creating Order and that will make you happy.

if you have such a great memory then the object isn't really needed to bring the memories back you have to get rid of the things and try to teach yourself to control your feeling with the ocd

I think that's cute! Put all the stuff in storage, you don't have to throw it all away.
