Is there a market for used, children's VHS tapes? My 8 year old son has outgrown many of the tapes he loved to watch as a toddler to about age 6. They range from multiple "Bluees Clues", "Arthur", "DragonTales" etc. and many more, including various Disney titles. Before I take the time to catalogue and list them for sale on "e-Bay" or "Live Deal", I was wondering if a market for the tapes even exists. If you think there is one, what would be a good asking price for each? Thanks for your input.

I think you would have a better chance selling them if they were DVD's. Where I live you can go to garage sales and pick up VHS tapes for anywhere from free to $1. Usually the ones in the best ones in almost brand new cases go for a buck. I would suggest that maybe you donate them to a homeless shelter, domestic violence shelter, preschool, or Early Childhood program such as Early Head Start. Most of these programs ofter tax deductible receipts for what you believe the value of the items are. I am sure that if they are in the proper case and in very good condition you could get $2 per a tape, considering the cost if someone were to go to Wal-Mart and buy them. I would also suggest maybe keeping some of your son's favorite ones so when he is older he can watch them and get a good chuckle from them. My mom saved some from when I was a kid, and I could not believe that I used to watch some of the old cartoons (popples, my little pony, etc). Much to my surprise, my daughter loves to watch the old stuff.

I bought a huge lot of VHS tapes off Ebay for my daughter to watch at night. I paid $50 for 26 tapes and I think I paid $15 for shipping. If you do sell them on Ebay look into getting the free flat rate priority boxes and see how many you can fit in there. I for one like to buy things when I know I will get them fast

VHS tapes have gone the way of the 8 track and beta players. Not worth much except to a collector. Try a garage sale list them for 2 or 3 dollars.

You probably aren't going to get much out of them, most people are strictly DVD now. Rather than incurring the expense of selling them on e bay, I'd advertise them in your newspaper in the free classified ads. You probably won't get much more than $1-$2 a piece for them, if you're lucky. I only say that, because you can buy new ones for $2.50.

have you tried pawn shops? or "mom and pop" video game trading stores? in boise, idaho there is a store called A-1 video game exchange that takes used cd's, dvd's, video games of all kinds and of course trades VHS tapes for other VHS tapes.
good luck!

Welcome to the age of the DVD!! I have lots of VHS tapes also. I donated some to area day cares and pre-schools. Also check with chruches, women's and children's centers, and orphanages. There is always someway to help these places and most of them can give you tax credit for the donations.

Yeah all my Disney movies are on VHS and I have to watch them because my 12 nieces and nephews all have there favorite Disney movies that they have to watch every time they come over. So I guess we will never get rid of them either.
