Assuming you are interested in irons?

Reading the answers so far makes me somewhat sad. So many people answer based on marketing hype or just what they hear. First of all, most US golf companies do not manufacture their clubs. They are basically designing and marketing operations and outsource manufacturing to overseas companies. (Ping is an exception to this).

Next, Mizuno is without a doubt the best irons manufacturer. There are only three forging houses in the world that make high quality irons. These are Mizuno, Miura, and Endo. While these all produce top notch products, most industry insiders still give the edge to Mizuno. (US brands that offer forged clubs usually outsource to Endo). Rather than look at what the pro's use, look at what they use after their sponsorship contracts expire.

To answer that question, some more information would be needed.

If you are looking to have a set of clubs custom fit to you, then the best choices would be Ping or Callaway.

Higher skilled players tend to lean toward Titleist and Mizuno, although all of the big names make higher end clubs (Taylor Made, Callaway, Ping, Adams).

I will try to give an opinion based on casual golfers:

My choice would be Callaway. The reason for this is that their selection of clubs is very broad and appeals to all skill levels. They are a very good brand, and a set would last a very long time. The only downside would be the price; they are not cheap. But in this case, you do get what you pay for.

If you are looking for something a little lower end, you may want to check out a manufacturer called Goliath. They make decent clubs at very reasonable prices, and they are very popular with beginners. For very little money, you can get a full set that would be perfect for starting the game, and if you decide to pursue the game, you can always upgrade to one of the bigger names later on.

Ping is the best in my opinion. Great manufacturing and club design for all player ability. If you're new and you got some cash, go for the G5. Very forgiving and gives you straight shots. Makes the game much easier to learn. Go to their site and get "fitted" so you have the perfect clubs for you. Other than that, Callaway, Titleist, Taylor Made are all good brands. Nike is growing leaps and bounds with their clubs. Make sure you like how the club looks. If you don't (even though they cost big$), you're going to play terribly. They have to be pleasing to your eye.
If you're just taking up Golf, get a few lessons from a Pro (not a friend). If you just head out and not know anything, you're going to pick up bad habits and they won't be easy to undo. FOREEEE

Ping, Titleist, King Cobra, Callaway, Pinnacle, TaylorMade, etc. There are many different brands of golf clubs. I would check with your local golf course pro. He/She should be able to recommend one that will be right for you.

However, if you're a beginner, I would definitely recommend metal shafts. Graphite shafts are for more experienced players. The metal shafts can take more abuse from beginner swings and such.

The technologies in irons hasn't replaced very plenty these days. I reccomend getting an oversize set of irons of maximum any style. The oversize golf equipment supply you a greater candy spot and are greater trouble-free to hit. motive force technologies has replaced plenty these days, yet there are some solid deals on older fashions. i exploit a Taylor Made R580. it is long and has a super head for greater trouble-free hitting. you will get a 580 for around $50 on E-bay. i might circulate with metallic particularly than graphite because of the fact it is greater consistent for a newbie.

Here are some great ones, but they have several models with several options. I recommend going to company website and finding out when they will have a demo day in your area. Go to as many as you can. Have them fit you and hit as many clubs as you can. I recommend hitting the clubs before you buy. I have links to websites on my 360- blog roll

Ping, Titleist, Cobra and Callaway

Callaway makes great woods. Nike and Taylormade make great irons, and Clevelnad makes great putters. If you're looking for balls, the best is the Titleist Pro V1, and the best affordable ball is the Callaway Warbird.
