My favorate would be a toss-up between Hannibal Barca and Leonidas of the Spartans. Hannibal Barca was such a miliraty genius that he not only created battle strategies still used today, but he also got the closest to Rome than any other attacking army did(aside from Germania). Now Leonidas, well, does Thermopylae ring a bell? 300 men, against thousands of Persians, and he whipped them good. They had a Phyrric victory against him of course, but his heroic actions and the total destruction of Xerxes army render the Persians defeated against the onslaught of the upcoming united Grecian attack against the Persians.

Hannibal and Leonidas are EXCELLENT choices.
Caesar is also a very good choice. What about Rommel?
Ok here goes;
Greatest leader-Leonidas
Greatest tactician-Hannibal Barca
Greatest General(soldiers man)-Erwin Rommel
Greatest overall-maybe Caesar, he had many of the qualities of all the above.

Robert E. Lee hands down. One of the battles he commanded is considered one of the most perfectly executed battles. He originally was asked to fight for the Union as the commander, but could not fight against his home state, Virginia, so fought as commander of the Confederacy. Lee was brilliant.

Napoleon has got to be high on the list, not many people can rule Europe, so I suppose Hitler would have to be on there too, as long as you don't count the whole genocide thing

Nobody went with this but mine is going to be Ghengis Khan. Not only did he overrun most of Asia, he also managed to keep his empire stiched together until he died.
