My kitten plays in water tries to climb into the shower, the sink swatting at the water with her paws and dragging her water dish into the middle of the floor and plays in it. Is this normal??

That is so cute! Take your kitten outside and buy it a kiddy pool. The ones for little kids to play in and fill it half way with water. That way, ur kitten will be happy! Wish I had your kitty! That is so cute!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have one that drinks by dipping her paw in (like she is scooping up the water) and drinking it off her paw. I've seen her wade on the steps of the swimming pool too. Another one washes his feet in the water bowl. Cats are like people: not one is the same!

To respond to the above answer, some water-liking breeds are the Turkish Van and the Abyssinian.

My cats love water (just not being immersed in it).

They lick the bathtub after I take a shower, walk around the edge of the tub when I take a bath, and dip their paws in. They lay in the sink. They play in the bathtub, and lay around in it.

I turn the water on in the sink, and they bat at it and try to drink it.

My one cat likes to play with his water bowl. He dips his feet in it, and then licks them. He puts stuff in the water bowl, and then tries to fish it out. He spills the water, I think simply becuase he can. :-))

Yes Kittens love anything that is moving i.e. water....my Goofy did it as a kitten, and still climbs into the bathtub on occasion...I think that in the summer, especially, it is cooler in the tub.

it's not normal per say but you are darn lucky its all i can do to get my kitty anywhere NEAR a bathtub or a sink. its good she doesn't have a fear of water makes it easier on you in the long run. encourage it!. there are cats who get accustomed to water and have fun with it. A lot of people try to get their kittens used to it from young to make bath time easier. you lucked out naturally :) have fun!

yes. cats are actually great swimmers when they need to be.

I had a cat who would get in the tub after my shower and lick the water up...and she had clean water every day.

i often find that cats like to drink water from puddles or holes, more than fresh tap water.
dont know why, though.
