Going on a break in the relationship yet considering going back out later after a period of time....is that straight up a break up...or confused about feelings?

finding the real meaning of a "break" in a relationship is like finding the real meaning of "life": it can't be done because every person has a different definiton of it. It usually means that the person asking for the break is not happy, needs time away from the other person or doesn't know how to break up with the person yet still wants to keep that person on the back burner in case they change their minds. Breaks almost never result in a happy reunion because breaks are just used to soften the blow of an actual break up. Usually, one person wants it more and for different reasons then the other and one or the other or both people will end up hurt and resentful, especially if dating other people is involved (which it usually is, whether agreed on or not). Breaks usually just equal emotional torture for both people.
Sometimes people just aren't strong enough emotionally to break it off totally so they go on a beak to test the waters and work up the courage to go out on their own without their partner.

If this question was about you I wish you all the best!

Well we would all like to think that when we take a "break" in a relationship that it means we just need some space and time to think and decide if the relationship is in our best interest. But usually those kinds of "breaks" result in a final "break-up", if the relationship is so bad and far gone, especially if you are young that you need time apart, then time permanently apart is more likely than not just what the doctor ordered. When two people love one another and want things to work out, rather than take time away from each other they are dedicated to working things out, talking them through and finding out what isn't working so it can be fixed. Its when people feel smothered and begin not to feel good about being around that person anymore that time apart or a "break" begins to look good. Then after they have spent time away they don't want to go back and its usually for the best because as much as it can hurt we aren't all compatible with the people we want to be. Use that time to explore yourself more and see what you want to do besides just be someones girlfriend. Or hey start window shopping for a new man , things will be okay.

When someone ask for a break, there are some reason why, or you are been too absorbing, or the person is not too sure about the feeling or he or she is getting interested on someboby else and it doesn't want to be honest about the relactionship. Find out which one of this situation is the problem now.

It usually means that you are breaking up, particularly if the 'break' means seeing other people. How can a relationship survive a lack of commitment and affection involved when you are dating (having sex with) other people? At least, that's how I see it.

to some this is a true test of love, to the ones who were never in love this an easy tool to end the relationship without conflict or injury to their feelings. losers do not have the courage to tell someone they used them! so they say i just need room to think or time to myself!
