We've had a long distance relationship for a long time.
I just can't do the distance anymore.
i dont want to hurt him though. He still means a lot to me. and during the school year(because of activities) i will be seeing him a lot...
here's some ideas i had, but feel free to suggest your own...
Tell him...
1) I think of you as more of a friend...
2) I've just realized i don't want to be in this relationship anymore.
3) I like someone else.
4)I just don't like you that way anymore.
5) I just want to be single right now.

Those are horrible ideas, because they are so cliched and he will know you don't mean any of it.
Telling him the truth is a far far FAR better option than any of those.

Basically all the ones that you listed are ones that he has heard before either in the locker room or to his own face. The best thing to do is to be honest. Just say this isn't working out for me, I cant do this long distance thing anymore and it would be best for both of us to end it now then to hurt each other later down the line. This way you aren't using the same tired lines and making up old excuses. Being single is really the best thing I really wouldn't advise jumping into another relationship right away either because that is just as bad and it will backfire in a huge way. Take time for yourself.

well the best way to do any breakup would be to tell the truth.
explain to him that ur long distance relationship is putting a strain on u. maybe if u jus tell him the truth it will seem less harsher and he will apprecieate u more for being honest. maybe u'll could meet up again when he comes .but jus try being totally honest.....and break up with him face to face...phone break ups r the worst.....and the best ways to show someone that u dont care !its hurt full.

breaking up is hard to do.
Face to face is usually the best way. Say what you have to say and let him say what he has to. It'll most likely be angry words or upset things or he'll try to talk you out of it. Be patient and stay firm.
If that doesn't work. Kick him in the ding ding and tell him you like chicks now.

Just write or phone and tell him the absolute total truth. Explain why you want to break up. Honesty is the best policy.
