Hi! I personally prefer a labrador. Labs are from sporting group and thus are playful, cheerful, cute and a great friend for kids as well as all of us! They are easy to train, besides being intelligent.
Most important of all, you must pay a lot of attention to it, you have to do this with all dogs! They are very fond of food!
Next the alsatian is a guard dog. He is a nice dog to keep as a pet but sounds military! Coz' they are used for search purposes. They are kind with kids but not always. They can be harsh sometimes. I don't say that it is not a good dog. They shed less than labs, however!so by analysis , it will be the labrador!

A black labrador is probably better due to their disposition, ease of training, compatability with small children, etc. A German Shepard is better for being a watch dog at your house, and is much better defense dog.

Labs are from the Sporting Group while GSD's are from the Herding Group. Both are high energy but the labs will calm down after they turn two where the GSD will remain a fairly high energy dog. GSD's also are used a lot for guard duty and police work because they can be trained to be vicious where you never see labs in this same line of work. I am a sucker for labs. I love them with their floppy ears and big body's. I can't wait to get mine.

I have a "Blound" a mix of Balck lab and a hound, I have had 8 dogs and this is the best one yet.
He is smart, great with kids, easy to train, and just loves people, but he always warns us of perceived dangers with a deafening hound bark, and he does this when anyone approaches the house, day or night
Fantastic dog..

I'm all about Labs!

Both are loving, playful, and easy to train. More hair with German Shepherd, though.

Labs are hunting dogs while Germ Sheps are family dogs.. I think having a germ shep is better as they are more protective then labs are..
