What one program can I use to stop this message from ever comeing up again?


This is the message:
Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file.

If you want to keep running media player, go to microsoft get updated, get current. Otherwise get a new media player.

There is no way to avoid occasionally getting a movie with a codecs you dont have on your machine, if you download movies. This is a limitation created by the video authors always changing the codecs you use.

Upgrade your window media player. You can get WMP 11 Beta if you are using Windows XP. I had the same problem, but after I upgraded all my files play.

download media player 11 from microsoft.com
or

go to softpedia.com and download ACE media codec. install it

this message is usually displayed when you try and open a protected windows media files, both audio and video. When I download files I sort protected files out and delete them.
