Best thing in New Zealand??? from what perspective? are you a tourist looking to go there?
A list of places you should go and see?
My personal fave was a little beach up in the bay of islands where my mates and I used to go and stay every summer vacation when uni was out...
Best thing? My mum, as I no longer live in NZ and only get to see her and my family once every two years...
Other best things? The Fish and Chips from my local... Mac's gold lager beer... Whitaker's Peanut slabs (chocolate)... ORange Chocolate chip ice cream... Hokey Pokey Ice Cream.. Spending New Year's vacation at the Mount (Maunganui)... catching a few waves at Raglan... Watching Bay of Plenty beat Waikato at Blue Chip Stadium... My Nana's Pavlova... Spending the entire summer without shoes on... Playing against Eastern Districts (BoP) in a friendly sunday cricket match and not being able to finish as the feed between innings was too good... Catching fresh snapper and taking it home right away to fry... Driving up the coromandel... never going into auckland...
cheers!

I live in the far south of NZ. Some good things here include hot springs in the wilderness, fishing, extreme sports like bungee jumping, beaches, foods like whitebait and oysters, and our low population density.
