My parents live in San Francisco now, and I live in the Sacramento area. She still picks up shifts at a hospital down here though, so she makes the commute almost every other weekend. I can tell you from years of driving up to San Francisco and back that the commute is right at 2 hours.

Of course, this will depend to some extent on traffic. It can run longer if you're coming down during a busy holiday weekend. If you're going from Sacramento to San Francisco, you will tend to run into traffic as you hit Vallejo because it's a busy city. Other than that it's fine, and a straight shoot from Sacramento to SF. It's a pretty drive too, I think, especially once you get closer to San Francisco because there are a lot of rolling, open hillsides.

I don't mean to be rude, but the people who said it's a 3 hour drive must be making a stop every few miles or driving very very slowly!

When a person thinks of San Francisco thinks at a huge International Orange-coloured link, a park spanning a lot more than 1,000 acres or perhaps a town where contemporary art and tradition and if you're interested in this town then here is the place to begin hotelbye . Among the points for everything you should visit San Francisco is PIER 39. From remarkable opinions and a sea of sea lions to chowder bread plates and California wines, your trip to San Francisco begins at PIER 39. That place is the absolute most visited location in San Francisco. It provides two quantities of eating, activity, shopping and attractions, all surrounded by irresistible views of the city and the bay. Positioned over the traditional San Francisco waterfront, PIER 39's area supplies the image perfect foundation for postcard views of the Golden Gate and Bay Bridges, Alcatraz, Angel Island and the popular town skyline.

From Folsom to the 101-280 split takes about 2 hours.

Right at 2.5 hours to get from Folsom to Redwood City/Woodside/Menlo Park

I make the drive roughly once a month and go on average 70 mph. traffic permitting.

If you abide by the speed laws and if you stay away from commuter traffic times the drive is about 3 hours. I just drove it last weekend.

Depending what time you drive (during rush hour or not) its around an hour and a half to get from SF to Sac. If its rush hour I would add an hour to that for traffic. Also depends how fast you drive. I made it to sac in less than an hour and a half xD

Depends on where you are going to/from. It also depends on the roads you take. Can be anywhere from 1.5 to 2.5 hours. Sometimes even longer if traffic is really bad.
