Because its so real, and its the truth, and i think some people are scared of it. "The Truth Hurts" people dont have as much conflict over lies as they do the truth. Christianity is the truth thats why their is so much controversy. People only mock the True living God. thats why you hear people say stuff like, "Oh My God, " you dont hear people say "Oh My Buddah" or something like that lol. Anyways hoped that helped.

Main reason is because it requires FAITH. Believing in something you can't physically sense with any of the 5 senses makes no sense to non-religious people. They want a real reason to believe and something to feel. Sadly they may find out only at rapture or at their death.
To think God would stoop to man's level and become Jesus Christ makes no sense to some. There is enough hard proof historically that a man named Jesus Christ once existed and few argue that point. The question is whether the Bible is accurate or exaggerated. Were his miracles real? Was he really the Messiah?
Centuries ago I think people gave more importance to spirituality but I think in today's overdeveloped society people overlook these things. Just notice that the more developed countries are more atheist. Look at a country like India which is not developed yet but on it's way. They are a spiritual society though. Whether they are Hindu, Muslim or Christian they are really into it their faiths. There are much less atheists there when compared to countries in the west. But I bet the more developed they get, the less they will believe in religion.
Americans are obsessed with money, materialism, fame, and everything superficial. TV programs our minds not God anymore. Sad thing is God is more real than the fantasies we see on TV.

Christianity is so hard to believe, because science has proven most of the things in the bible to be fiction. Of course, if you use that logic, all religions have the same problem. And it is so unlikable because of the fundamentalists who think they should be able to tell the rest of the world how to live. You know how the muslim terrorists act? That is exactly how the American Christian fundamentalists are acting. It really is scary that they think they have the right to tell others what to read or do.

I don't think it is. I took a comparative world religion class shortly after I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior. Honestly, Christianity was the only one that made sense to me. Besides, none of the others send you to hell if you don't believe. You either get reincarnated or cease to exist. Given the choice, I'd rather be wrong as a Christian than with any of the other ones. I've grown a lot since then, by the way. This is just kind-of a secular idea of why Christianity makes sense.

For nonbelievers, Christianity is hard to believe because they have not taken time to read it's manual, The Holy Bible. In order to believe, your heart must be softened to the message of God. It must be "your time." I came from a Bible-based family. Both of my parents were Christians. They lived dedicated Christian lives. They did not condemn people. They were not hypocrits. They were just ordinary people who were prone to making mistakes as we all are. They did not judge people. They loved people and opened their home and hearts to people. And yet, I rejected their core beliefs. Why? Because it crimped my style. And Satan paid off pretty well in the beginning. It took years for Satan's lifestyle to take it's toll on me. I found out that no matter how well he may have paid me in the beginning, I paid in the end.
Once I was deep in the gutter of life, I had no way to go but to the Lord. Who, in the end, was the only one who offered REAL salvation from my life of depravity and self-absorbtion.
When I lived in worldly ways, I didn't want to hear the ways of God. It came with the conviction of my wrongdoing. No one likes to feel that they are wrong or admit that they do wrong. But in the end, it was when I was willing to admit that I was like every other single solitary person on this earth - a sinner by nature - that I was able to let go and let God clean up my heart, soul and spirit.
I wasn't afraid of not having fun anymore. I finally know what having fun is all about. It comes without guilt. It comes without shame. It comes without conviction. It is the truest and purest form of freedom I've ever known.
I recommend believing. I also recommend trying it. It works. It's the only thing that really does work. When you try it for real, it's likeable. Better than that - it's lovable. And try the manual for living. It is pure Truth. And the Truth is that Jesus will set you free!

I hate the idea of a person in heaven running my life - it makes me feel like a doll in a doll house and I just don't like that.
I also don't like to be told or go along with the crowd - I home-school my kids, I don't go with traditional medicine, I work for myself. Maybe you would call me a libertarian, a maverick or a loose cannon, but I like to work out the mysteries of life for myself, rather than be given rules and laws that I must follow. I will listen to expert opinion, but ultimately it is my decision and my life and I am gonna live it my way.
The thing I like least about christianity though is when i hear from some christians (not all) that we are all lousy sinner and not worthy and such. I think that stinks. Religion should build up and strengthen people, not tear them down or make them feel inferior, in my opinion.
Peace!

There definately is a creator; but he is nothing like the Bible or Quran describe him.
Just the other day, I saw a young immigrant construction worker. A kid in his 20's. He would just stand somewhere and stare at passerbys with a stupid smile. I asked around to see what his problem was. They told me that his bigger, stronger co-workers rape him all night ! He was raped so many times that he had lost his mind completely !
No, I doubt very very much that a strong, omnipotent entity watches over him all the time, protects him, and loves him like his own child.
I apologize if I disturbed your piece of mind with this amusing tale. Truth is I needed to tell someone myself to get it out of my system. So thank you.
I am a devoted Christian myself, but couple of parts, I borrow from Zoroastrianism.
According to Zoroastrianism, God created us as allies in the eternal battle of good and evil. He will someday lure "Ahriman" (Satan) into the material world, and there, humans and Divinities working together will crush Satan, and we will be freed and be granted eternal life and can journey anywhere in the universe freely.

Christianity is so easy to believe. All you need to know is the 10 commandments, the Lords Prayer and learn that God so loved the world that he created that he gave "his only" begotten son to us.It sets the standards that you must live your life.
Its unlikeable to the Muslims and Jews because it does not agree with violence-No such thing as an eye for an eye-thats old laws after Jesus it was "love they neighbor" and so forth. Also they dont believe Jesus was the son of God.

It's hard to believe that a God of love would demand his only Son as a Hebrew blood sacrifice.
The unlikeable part is that it seems very pro-death and suffering.

Christianity is hard to believe because it causes the individual to give up most things that are pleasing to himself and live a perfect life. Another thing that makes people doubt Jesus Christ is all the bad things that are going on in the world. God has a master plan and he also is just. wow- i wrote a lot

for me, Christians make the religion unlikeable. True I think its fiction, but I love a good book. All the other religions, the people who practice anyway, are so much more friendly and a lot less quick to damn you to hell.
