Exodus 20:11
For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day; wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

Since a lot of people worship on Sunday,?

Is it ok to worship God and set it a side to rest any day of the week as long as it is ONE day a week?

And if not, why are we going to church on Sunday?

The Bible actually tells us in Corinthians that it does not matter which day we hold to as a Sabbath and not to criticize others for their choice of day. It simply states that we should have one day as a Sabbath. We go to church on Sunday's to commemorate the day that Christ rose from the dead...at least that is one reason. Blessings.

While there is no sin in worshiping on Sunday or Monday or any other day of the week - there is an inherent wrong in ignoring and bypassing God's appointed day of rest, Saturday (the sabbath).

Roman Emperor Constantine changed the Sabbath to Sunday because of his hate of the Jews and made Sunday for worship a law..., people who worshiped on the Jewish Sabbath were beaten, imprisoned and worse.

He formed his own brand of Christianity - apart from the true New Testament Church. This religion became known as the Roman Catholic Church.

All the churches which split off from the Roman Catholic Church abandoned many Catholic teachings, BUT, still held onto other false teachings like, Sunday the recognized day of worship and the so called Holy Trinity.

Jesus honored the Sabbath - so did the Apostles. Today many churches will argue tooth and nail to defend Sunday worship and ignoring the Sabbath as right. They contend on some vague passages where the Apostle Paul told a church to have donations and offerings ready to pick up on the first day of the week - which by no means indicates the Sabbath was done away with, just simply shows they did gather on other days.

They ignore the fact that ignoring the Sabbath is a direct violation. They will accept that Murder is wrong, having other Gods is wrong and the other commandments are in force - but for reasons they aren't even sure of, Ignore the one about the Sabbath.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure it out.

Are you a seventh day adventice cause I am, and a lot of people don't know that but seventh day adventice. Well anyway to answer your question the Sabbath day (Saturday) should be the day of worship why it's Sunday that's a really good question??? I mean it does say that in the bible but for some reason people ignore that part hmmm...

Well personally I think it doesn't matter when you worship as long as you do. It's more important to live right, be a good person and always remember his teachings...... By the way I'm still curiouse for an reason to.

The 7th Day to Remember?

I Like to see this passage as an account of creation, say for arguments sake each of The Lords days in The Creation account spans 88 million years.Man was created on the sixth day and the times in which we now reside are The Lords Sabbath, ie: he is resting and has requested, for our own sakes that we remain faithful and true, remember, its not a very long time in the grand scheme of eternity and so it would seem, in my mind, that mankind hasnt followed this commandment with the due respect it deserves, and as a result we have inherited the troubled earth in which we now exist.
If you ask me, we all break The Lords Sabbath with incredible consistency.
All have fallen short!

Actually I, as well as many other people, go to church on Saturday. The Sunday thing is actually a historical thing. Basically, Constantine (the roman emperor) became a Christian and then changed the 7th day to Sunday so that all Romans could continue to worship on the first day. Before Rome's religion was changed to Christianity, they worshipped the sun god. So he changed the day to Sunday so they would not have to alter all of the markets, rules, calenders, etc. It was much easier. (by the way, the first day is still called SUNday). But I personally believe that as long as you take a day to worship god, it is fine. Jesus is a kind and understanding god. not one of hidden rules and ceremonies. (But, of course, I respect everybody's beliefs). My family is SDA, a church that worships on saturday. Except my dad is a Methodist, and worships on sunday.

Well, I actually go to church on Saturday...but really I don't think it matters what day you worship and set aside for God as long as you make that day special. I think God made the 7th day a resting and worship day for us because as humans, we need a break to lay back and chill. Just remember that it shouldn't be a burden for you to HAVE to do. Just don't treat it like every other day and ignore that it's special. or flip it around so that it fits into your schedule whenever. Reserve that day and work your schedule around it.

We are free to worship any day, they worshipped on the first day of the week in Acts, but we can any day. We are no longer under the sabbath law, nor do we know what day the Jewish sabbath is anymore. A Rabbi has to establish the first day on the Jewish month. If Wed is good we can all do Wed. God is honored and we all have a good time.
Rom 14:5 One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.
Rom 14:6 He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks.

I go to church on Sunday or any day when I can. But Sunday is a day set by many to worship together. God said to set aside a day of rest. He didn't really specify what day as long as you rest. For many, the seventh day is different. It's not how or when or what day you worship, it's how you treat others. I believe that's what counts.

You are supposed to rest on the sabbath and bring your tithes and offerings to the church on the first day of the week. So you should rest on Saturday and go to church on Sunday. But Jesus said that if your ox is in the ditch it's okay to pull it out on the sabbath, so if you really have to work on Saturday it's okay. Most Christian doctrines allow for one day of rest and worship combined. God bless!

You have received a lot of answers already and that's nice. If you study the Bible you will find that Our Lord and Savior Yeshua Christ Jesus became our Sabbath. So rest in Him everyday.
