Upper dentures are pretty straight forward for most people to get used to. The can stick to the upper palate like a suction cup in most cases

Lower dentures are a nightmare. The biggest mistake a dentist can let a person make is to jump from having no denture to full denture on the lower arch. It is better to have several years 3-5 years with partial denture so the person can get used to having this thing in their mouth. The tongue actually can be taught slowly to help manipulate the denture base. As the teeth worsen the denture gets looser but the patient learns to compensate for the loss of stability afforded by the last teeth. By the time it comes to making the leap to complete dentures. The patient has learned how the denture should feel, the ridges have build up some modest amount of tone to resist the irritation of the denture riding on them, and the patient can the learn to rely on the tongue to hold the lower denture in place, rather than teeth.

No I don't think dentures are hard to wear as long as they fit well. I lost my teeth due to a hereditary problem when I was in high school and have had dentures since then. They can be uncomfortable sometimes, like if food gets under them but I just go to the ladies room and rinse them out. I think they are a lot better than what I had before. They look a lot better and if they do bother me at least I can take them out and get instant relief. I'm overdue for a new set since mine will be 10 years old soon, so I leave them out a lot, which isn't so bad either. It does freak some people out tho. LOL.

Upper dentures are not too bad. The lower ones can be hard. If you have to get the lower ones try to save some of your own bottom teeth so you can have something to "anchor" a partial on. I had my lower denture implanted but it was very expensive.

Good luck.

Dentures are an awful thing!! Your gums get sore and sometimes bloody for ill fitting dentures and often times you will hear a sucking noise when someone has dentures that don't fit correctly. Best advise would be to BRUSH YOUR TEETH while you have them.
