Where do you live? Are there any shelters near you?
How old are you? They won't let children adopt. Do you have a place for a dog? Will your landlord allow dogs? Can you afford food and vet bills? Dogs need rabies, distemper, parvo and other vaccinations, every year. Plus they need Heart Worm test, and the medicine to prevent them. Adopting a dog is wonderful, but it is a life-long commitment. You don't want to get a dog and figure out later that you can't afford it, either money or time wise.

Well I think your best best would be to search on google or yahoo for "insert your town name (or state) AND animal shelters" You could also just pull out the phone book and look in the yellow pages for an animal shelter. Good luck =)

depends on where you live. our animal shelter obviously adopts out of itself, but they also place animals in our local TSC (cared for by the staff) so that people can see the animals that are being offered. going there got me one of our dogs a year ago and today we went there and i found a kitten that just absolutely clicked with me and i adopted her.

go to petfinder.com, and enter in your city, it will have the humane societies and other dog rescue groups in your area and info, pics, etc. about the animals currently in their care. There will probably be an address, phone number, and email address so you can get more info if you need to.
