Because fools are the only ones willing to open themselves up to being hurt. But in some weird irony they're smarter than the ones who guard their hearts and don't fall in love. Saint Thomas Aquinas once said " Love takes up where knowledge leaves off" So only the foolish can find it I suppose

you dont have to be a fool to fall in love but you have to be a fool to pick the wrong person and not see it coming when they decide to break it off.
