depends on the status of the relationship before they ask for space... usually if in a romantic relationship, Yes, space's intended meaning is time spent without the other - to think, ponder, be on their own, etc...

Well living with the person you want space from can be difficult but not impossible. You can do the normal greeting and answer questions when asked but don't follow or push for conversation or anything else. If you live apart simple don't get in touch until the person contact you if more than two days go get your groove somewhere else.

It is a catch 22,and unfortunately they are in the drivers seat. No matter how much you convince yourself that "space" means some degree of together...fight the urge and give them SPACE. It is the last thing that they will expect from you and it will either give them a wake up call that they want you around or force you to get as far away from someone who is willing to break you heart because they don't have the huevos to tell you "they are just not that into you"
Either way.....you deserve better.

To me giving someone space means just that. They need time to think, or get themselves together and they can't do it with the other person being around or even calling all the time. If you care, give them time to come to you.

It depends on what they are asking for when they ask for "space". Perhaps they just need a little down time for themselves. I would suggest letting this person know that you understand their need for "space" and that you will be there for them when they are ready. Let them make the next move.

You do exactly what they are asking for and give them THEIR space which may not be the same as you think, so leave them alone and most of the time you will find that the space they want keeps getting smaller and smaller and they eventually will confront you with the problem they are having. Welcome aboard

If one asks for space..just let them have the space..Maybe they need it time to think and figure things out by themselves..sometimes it's better to think alone. so that your decisions wont be influenced by others..
