You could grill ribs, or shrimp on skewers...

Corn on the cob can be grilled, too, and peppers...

Grilled turkey breasts or ham slices are nice. A fruit salad would be good with either but a pasta salad goes well too. For a change of pace baked sweet potatoes are good and very easy to grill too. For dessert how about sliced strawberries over vanilla ice cream? Happy Father's Day!!!

rub down a brisket its like a cornedbeef but not cured in salt its like a pastramie without the spice and the ageing so rub it down and then slow cook it til brown and while its on the back burner being turned with a rub of just pepper and cumin and oregano or whatever strikes you place some smoked sausages and italian sausages and peppers on the grill when the peppers are almost brown take of and slice and then cut up the sausages and the brisket get sliced you will note its the meat used to make steak fahitas so it good on the plate or on soft taco shells with the sweet peppers and the sausages on rolls with potatoe salad and a tub of refried beans instead of the baked so half mexican half italian and its man food have fun

Pork chops.
Chicken (with zesty BBQ sauce).
Grilled Pizza.
Grilled vegetables (peppers, mushrooms, potatoes, corn...)
Steak (marinated in beer & red wine; salt, pepper, garlic powder).
Turkey - turkey burgers.
Grilled Potato Wedges
Focaccia Burgers

Homemade ice cream.

Not a tradition here -- but good ideas.

Food manufacturers website often have grilling recipes & ideas - and foodnetwork.com... and EmerilS.com.

Father's day is something special...I agree it needs something more than hamburgers or hotdogs. For sure you need to have grilled salmon and veggies. Or if you are not a salmon type of person you could always make skewers with any kind of meat (pork, beef, shrimp, or all of the above) and then add the veggies to the skewer.

pork roast. I having a hunting lodge in SC, and i take a pork roast and cook it at 250 forever, until its tender...about five hours. Depends on the size. Its done when you stick a fork in it and it breaks apart, or goes in easy. Anyway, i season it, smear butter on it, wrap it in bacon and then throw a couple of onions on it, quartered. I put it in a dutch oven (cast iron) with about a 1/2 inch water, and cook it. Then when it is done, I make my BBQ sauce, put it on top of the stove, and beat it with my mixer. This shreds the pork. Or pulls it. Then I add the sauce, and cookit for a bit with the sauce in it. Then just toast the buns and you are done. Pulled pork sanwiches. you can also do it in a crock pot. Another thought, BBQ ribs.

We make Beer Can Chicken on Father's Day. Yum yum. Takes a while to cook on the grill but well worth the wait.
