At the beaches in the US, women are generally required to cover their chest while guys just wear shorts with no shirts. If women were allowed to be topless like guys, would you go topless? Why or why not?

It's only a cutural thing. If people were made to cover our noses, noses would be taboo, and not other parts of the body. If topless were generalised enough, nobody would be scandalised at the sight of a boob. Not so long ago, it was considered improper for women to show their navels. Now, nobody ever cares. So, start showing your boobs, and in a few decades, boobs will no longer be taboo.

In New York State it is legal for women to 'go topless' anywhere. Most prefer not to because of modesty. Although legal, I don't believe I would go topless. Not just because of modesty, but because there are too many ways to injure such a sensitive area!

I personally wouldn't want women to be able to go topless at the beach. Breasts are typically considered to objects of sexually obsession, they are "private parts" they are more appealing to others than a man's chest is.

OK,in case you haven't noticed there is a small,sometimes big difference,between the chest of men and the chest of women.There is a health concern for women who go bra less.One is the pull of gravity on unsupported mass(that's why men wear shorts on the beach)the other is us men.

I would totally support a change in the law, in fact all you women start taking your tops off at the beach, if enough of you do it the laws will change, god bless you!!! BOOBIES FOREVER!!!!!!!

because unlike guys girls have boobs... and because the us is "moral" and modesty is moral, they have to cover their boobs. i have no prob with staring at boobs all day at the beach.

there is a beach by san diego called "blacks beach" that is a nude beach.
