Guess lesson learned. You NEVER do this with a friend and family is questionable. You have to worry about your credit for the rest of your life, so you need to be in control of it, not someone else.

Will youre not smart for getting a joint credit card account with a friend. You should call the bank and see what they say, try to cancel youre half of the account.

I would close the account. If the amount your friend owe is not astronomical, go ahead and pay off before closing. Tell your friend to pay you when he can. He will be either your friend and pay you or stop being your friend. Still better than ruining your credit. Don't ever cosign anything with a friend again.

Stay away from bad financial risk people!!!!!!...some people never grow to be financially responsible. Don't risk your own credit rate...it will hurt you in the future. Trust me on this one.....
Contact the credit card company and explain your dilemma and ask to cancel the account.... Hope is not too much money owed...
try and collect from your "friend" or cut your loses and chuck it to lessons learned in life. Live and learn!

ONE dont EVER EVER EVER do this again. truth is all you can do is pay the bill until paid off and then sue this person in small claims because if you dont then it will continue to mess up your credit and they will get away with it. because basically a creditor goes after the person that is capable of paying the bill. we (because i am a collector) don't care about you having a job to pay it. we will take the necessary actions to get you to pay.
