Because the standard of holiness is God and He has revealed His standard to us in His written Word the Bible. The Bible claerly states that homosexuality is a sin and it is offensive to God. Homosexuals WILL NOT enter into the Kingdom of God.
Gen 2:24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.

Because it says flat out that it is a sin in the bible. Many people argue that it should not be an issue among Christians because it states that it is a sin in the "OLD" testament, but they are even more ignorant that their statement! It ALSO says in Romans (NEW testament) that it is a sin. It has always been obvious that it is a sin in the past, and suddenly it as actually become an issue! Also, marriages as they are generally defined today in America/ Europe (which I am assuming that you are from, as this is not an issue in most of the rest of the world), are Christian traditions. Finally, I am tired of everybody blaming Christianity for all of Earth's problems. Believe it or not- which, originally I didn't- besides the Jews, Christians- OF ALL THE EARTH's RELIGIONS- are the most persecuted. You ask,"why... some "Christains" think..." well, it also says in the Muslim Holy books AND the Jewish holy books that homosexuality is a sin. America was founded on Christian values (by the way, not necessarily CATHOLIC values) and so the majority of American Christians believe America should stick to their original values; after all- that is what brought them from a divided, disputed 13 small British colonies to today's obvious superpower, now isn't it? Also, about 80% of Americans are involved in monotheistic religions, so Christains, Moslems, and Jews all should believe it is a sin because it is so black and white. This is why homosexual marriage is so controversial. There is a great website that will give you both liberal and conservative Christian reasoning. Here is a conservative quote. "Conservative Christian theologians generally: Believe that the Bible was written by authors who were directly inspired by God. Thus their writings are seen as inerrant -- completely free of error as originally written.
The Bible is regarded as the actual Word of God. Thus whenever the Bible and science disagree, the former must be right.
Most interpret the Garden of Eden story in the book of Genesis as indicating the fall of humanity into sin. They view homosexual behavior as one evidence of that sin.
When they study the Bible for guidance on homosexuality, they generally look for proof texts -- passages that clearly and directly deal with the topic."

I agree. I use to be very christian. Then i started to realize how hypocritical religion is. If god loves every one then why would he hate gays. It's been proven that it's cause by a chemical embalance in the brain. People fight this fact all the time but why do children show signs of homosexuality at the ripe age of 5 and 6. At the age most children dont even know about sexual organs. I'm straight but ive worked with alot of gay people. They are people too. Some are better christians than other people who brag about how holy they are. Gays will goto heaven if they follow god just like everyone else in the christian religion. Everyone says its an abomination to God blah blah blah. It's reasons like this that i consider myself agnostic now. I don't believe in organized religion. Why should. Christians dont act christian. Catholics sure as hell dont act like they should. I'm not saying the Bible is all lies. But there is so much in the bible that contradicts its self that it's not worth studying. I respect those that are true christians and truely follow the religion to what is expected. But i honestly think these people are the ones that accept gays. Gays are not evil-doers. Most of them just want to live a happy life just like everyone else. So let them. They don't bother your life. Why redicule theirs?

YEAH!!! AVATAR!! Very well put!!

Why are there so many judgmental people that use the bible for their own good? Why do so called Christians like to hate people? What if there are people in the world that believe that there is no "One True" religion? If you follow a path that gives you all the peace and fulfillment you need, why is it wrong if it is not a Christian religion. If I don't believe in the bible it will do no good to quote it to me. However I do think it is a valid religion because it speaks to people. But it does not speak to me. Therefore using the bible to prove that you are right and I am wrong is futile. Just as if I were to use witchcraft to prove that I am right and you are wrong. There is no point in that. Religion is a very personal thing and only you can choose your path. You cannot choose another person's path or force them to believe the same as you. So...LIGHTEN UP PEOPLE!!
Let Gays Marry and don't force your religion on ME or our Country to justify your bigotry!!

They aren't marriages; they are just playing at being married, like kids pretending.

In response to a question about divorce, Jesus said that a man was to leave his father and mother and cling to his wife because the Creator made them male and female. This is found in the tenth chapter of the gospel of Mark.

So Jesus endorsed the one-man, one-woman model for marriage. There is NOTHING that stops a homosexual man from marrying a lesbian woman.

effective, you understand your Bible. How..........your existence? Is your question. it is going adverse to God's be conscious. now again to the Bible. There are those who have a tendency to say that the Bible does no longer condemn homosexuality "because we are all sinners.......". as you're saying, and as you, countless verses are stated (out of context) and the verses that folk use to illustrate that homosexuality is inaccurate are defined away as you too. the international needs to modify God's words and meanings (to suffice their personal understand-how 2 their personal advantages and could talk in hate at the same time as its used adverse to their beliefs/options) into some thing better appropriate to its sinful needs--"gay marriage isn't incorrect" as an celebration. although, the truth stands: The Bible condemns homosexuality as a sin attempt those: Lev. 18:22, "You shall no longer lie with a male as one lies with a lady; that's an abomination." Its in the Bible and you may now study it as your cite your information your use. Lev. 20:13, "If there's a guy who lies with a male as those who lie with a lady, both one of them have committed a detestable act; they shall actually be positioned to death. Their bloodlines is upon them" its in the Bible too. you forgot one element--homosexuals were granted a similar rights as a married couple, "...they may well be in a position to purchase a house........." the in reality large difference between both is the be conscious Marriage and Unions. so quite, the position is the damage?

A religion that goes against some people's innermost desires and wishes (provided these desires and wishes are not hurtful for anybody else) does not even deserve to be taken seriously. It doesn't actually matter if it says so. Homosexual marriages are not bad, because there is no way they can hurt anybody by getting married, except those holier-than-thou sanctimonious people who only care about what others do.

They are arrogant and insecure and want to feel like they are better than other people. So they quote passages out of this deceiving, badly edited, dusty old book and try to "justify" their hatred of others. They take whatever makes them feel better out of context and throw the rest out. They interpret it for their own selfish little lives and sit there in their own little pure bible bred world not realizing that the real world with kind compassionate loving people of all creeds, ethnicities and orientations is passing them by. I'd feel sorry for them if they weren't so pig headed and violent to boot.

The bible says:
"Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination" (Leviticus 18:22).
"If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them" (Leviticus 20:13).

a·bom·i·na·tion NOUN: Abhorrence; disgust. A cause of abhorrence or disgust.

Now, it is an assumption that a married homosexual couple would be having sex. These passages make it crystal clear that God does not approve of that.
