when I lived in Peru S.A. chancha or chancho was a slang term for pork. When I returned to New Mexico, I was told that it was a vulgar word and should not be used. I have never seen it written anywhere.

All that I can find is that it is a colloq. word that means dirty as ab adjective or pig, hog as a noun. I don't see any precaution you know, other than the obvious that it is a vulgar word. Useages differ from one group to another of Spainish speaker so...

According to the "Real Academia de la Lengua Española" chancha means the female pork. It also means a lie.

The word Chancho comes from the Spanish word Sancho which also means pork.
Feel free to look up these words in the Real Academia de la Lengua Española. It covers all the Spanish Language from all of its academies in Latin America and Spain.
If it appears in this dictionary, I don't think it is slang!

Chancha is the feminin of chancho, which means pig. But in every Latin American country they have different slang words, so it may mean something else in a specific country.
