Carrier is the original first air conditioning system brand
Please check the SEER number to se that it is very high this is your efficiency indicator the higher this number the better your system
All systems must be over 13 now
SEER- Seasonal Energy Efficiency Rating
P.S. One might also want to consider durability as a unit with a seer 18 that only lasts two years might not be a good deal

Ruud or Rheem air conditioner or heat pump are the best and most reliable machines out there. The oldest brand of a/c on the market.

I would suggest a Trane as they are the most popular on the market and they offer a great warranty. I would also suggest that you stay away from Sear`s products as they have stipulations in their warranty and guarantees that are easily missed by the consumer.

I have found that Rheem is the best. My parents have a Carrier and it doesn't cool near as well as our Rheem. And they have two units. Carrier has a good name too, but from my experience I've found that Rheem is better. Maybe it's just their units though. Hope this helps :).
