Recently, I noticed that my cat is becoming very thick around the middle and she is also developing teats. I'm not exactly sure what age she is, but I'm assuming that she is only 6 and a half to 7 months old. (I got her in January of this year, and she was probably least 6 weeks old then, so that would make her around 7 months old....I'm assuming. She could be older then this though.)
Anyhow, if it is not possible for her to be pregnant, then I need to get her to the vet ASAP, to see what is wrong with her. My mother told me she could possibly have worms, but I would hate to worm her if she were pregnant.
So again, I ask at what age could a cat possibly become pregnant. Thank you in advance for your help in this matter.
(P.S. Serious answers only please. I do not need to be ridiculed because I'm not sure at what ages cats can be 'with kittens'. I'm very worried about my cat!)

My cat (Piper) has been outside, but only once. Of course, I do realize that once is all it takes. She is an indoor cat all the way. I do have a male cat, but he has already been fixed.....well before I got Piper.
I did have plans to get my female fixed, but I thought she had be be older then she is now to have the operation. (I don't believe adding to the over-population crisis...but it looks like I have, due to my own stupidity.)
I will get her fixed ASAP...especially after she has her kittens. (It's pretty clear by all of your terrific answers that my little 'baby girl' is going to be a Mommy. Thank you all so much!)

Typically cats cant' get pregnant until around 6 months when they have their first heat. However some animals can get their first heat at the end of the 4th month. Don't worm her because if she is pregnant it can harm her. Take your kitty to the vet and he'll tell you for certain so you can make sure that she's healthy. Good luck.

once they come into heat, it's all over. A cat can get pregnant pretty quickly (I think it's around 6 months) so you might want to get her fixed (if she isn't already pregnant).
It could be worms, but if there is any possiblity that she's been outside (and with a male) then she's probably pregnant.
I don't know how you feel about this, but I do know that vets will spade a cat whether or not she's pregnant, so if you really don't want the kittens, then well, they don't have to be born. I know it sounds bad, but vets do it all the time.

I had a cat when I was little who became pregnant very young.
She was around the same age as your cat and she had kittens at 7 1/2 months. The vet told us this was unusual, and that she may have been a bit older than we thought.
She had the kittens and was fine, but she was the worst mother cat around! I don't know if this is because she was young, but she didn't know what to do when she started giving birth and tried to run away from the kittens as they came out!
Once they were out, she used to carry they around, up and down the stairs, by their tails and legs, so they bumped their heads. So just keep an eye on your cat and help her out if she needs some reassurance.

well generally about 7-12 months is the youngest a cat can get pregnant but its not always the same for every cat. it really just depends if she went through her first heat cycle and when she does then she will be ready to get pregnant.

I've heard of cats going into heat at 4 and 5 months. They can be pregnant by 5 months. You can still spay her, it's not too late. Cats can be spayed as young as 2 months (I don't recommend it, though) and can be spayed while in heat or pregnant. Yes, the kittens die. But some kitten will die somewhere else if yours live. Your cat could definitely be pregnant. A female cat's reproductive organs are fairly mature at 6 months, which is why most vets spay at that age. Take her to the vet, anyway, to make sure everything is fine.

My cat got pregnant her first heat, at around 7 months pregnant. You can take her to the vet and they can tell you if she is pregnant or not, but it is very expensive. I would wait a little bit longer to before giving any deworming stuff for her. She could be pregnant and you will be able to tell very soon.

Anytime after their first heat, which should be at 6 months. Sounds, crazy, I know! They're still babies themselves! But if they become pregnant that young they usually only have 1 or 2 kittens. Good idea to take her in. Best of luck to you and your kitten!
