Of course you should tip your bartender. Not only do they only make minimum wage (in some states service industry minimum wage is only a few dollars), but they usually taxed on their tips based on their sales. So, in effect, if you don't tip them, it cost them to serve you. Also, if you don't, you most likely won't get served for the rest of the night and they'll do their best to make you look like an a$$ in front of anyone your trying to pick up. On the other hand, if you tip the bartender well ($1/$2 a drink), you'll end up with stronger drinks (you might even save some dough), better service and ,if given the chance, they'll do their best to make sure you hook up. Even better, try tipping them a $10 or $20 up front, introduce yourself, use thier name when asking for a drink, be polite, and still tip a dollar for each drink. You'll most likely end up with a bunch of free drinks and find out where all the action is.

it's really up to you to tip them or not. it's customary and very classy if you do.
it also depends on the bartender and the kind of service you get too. if the guy is a total jerk and doesn't know what they're doing, keeps you waiting more than a reasonable amount of time, is rude, crude, or doesn't know what the heck he's talking about, then you either don't tip!
but if the guy is nice enough and does his job tip generously!
i personally usually just round to the nearest bill and add a couple of singles (for example if the drink costs 7 dollars i hand the guy a 10 dollar bill and top it off with a single..)
it's also important to make eye contact with the bartender while tipping and letting them know YOU are the one that's tipping generously specially if you are going back for more drinks.....this could guarantee you better and faster service on your later stops at the bar....

Yes, it is customary to tip the wait staff at a bar. Their salary is usually minimum wage and thus they depend on the tips from patrons to make any kind of decent take home from a night. How much you tip is usually a difficult question. I stick to a $1 a drink minimum, I usually go higher if the drink required preparation or if the service was good. If you keep fast to the 20% rule, a $5 beer would get a $1 tip. Cheers!

If they mix u a good drink you should tip better than if they are weak. 1-2 dollars a drink for good ones. Beer on the other hand depends on the service and usually the looks of the server. Can be the change left over on each purchase. If no change, one buck every two beers or so. If you are a regular at the establishment be a good tipper. This always helps.

You should always tip your bartender. It's very rude not to unless you didn't get good service. Depending on how many drinks you buy you should tip from $1 to $2 per drink. I usually get a tab and just tip all at once at the end of the night.

I have been in the industry for 20 years, $1 per drink is customary!! Right now I wait tables for $2.13 per hour and yesterday for 12 hours (without a break) I made $120...approx. 11% of my sales. My paychecks for 2 weeks range between $30-$40. I work my as* off for people who treat me horribly and make nothing for my time. As a bartender you get to know people and are better able to give the singular attention. I bar-tended in Dublin, CA and loved my job. My guests that hooked me up got treated like kings and queens. The ones that didn't, got served last. Bartender Priorities. Even now, my regulars get served first, everyone else waits. Standard nowadays is "decent" 15%, "good" 20% "great" 20%++. Bars, $1 per drink, if you like your bartender hook 'em up!! If you want to be taken care of tipping is not optional!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I usually tip the bartender $1-$2 per drink. Alot of times they give you a discount on drinks, or they give you free drinks

If on a tab....20 to 30%. Unless service is poor. If cash at bar, leave $1 to $2 per drink unless....skimpy drinks. If a good drink, always tip heavy.. you will save $$$$in the long run.

I would say its a good idea to tip your bartender (I am one...) and it makes me feel like I did good work.. and only makes me want to do better. If you want a stiff drink then you better make sure your a good tipper. If I know the person is tight with there money I dont give them the "best" drink I can make. But if I know your a tipper then you can tell me how you want it (stiff, or extra stiff) Here (a small small small town) I pay most attention to my dollar/drink tippers ... but usually I am doing good if I get 0.50.

Of course you should tip your bartender. Hello, they depend on tips for the majority of their income. If I am buying just one drink at a time I usually tip one dollar each time I order. More than one drink usually twenty to thirty percent of total.
